About the role
We are now recruiting an Apprentice Fire Safety Surveyor to support the effective management of Fire Risk Assessment and Fire action compliance across Onward in accordance with regulatory undertakings to ensure Onward is fully compliant and reduces any residual risk to customers, colleagues and third parties.
This is a home based role where there is no daily requirement to attend an office but it is expected that the successful candidates will attend the office when required for training, meetings and other team events.
Candidates will complete a Level 4 Fire Safety Inspector from Compass Training as part of the apprenticeship.
As part of this course you will complete a mixture of online and in person training usually taking place every Thursday.
Responsibilities:
Property Support
Assist in ensuring compliance with contract specifications, monitoring performance standards and minimising risk across a variety of workstreams.
Assist in undertaking completion checks at handover stage, following up on outstanding work items assessing all aspects of quality control and ensuring customers are delighted with the completed works.
Assist in ensuring Landlord compliance related certificates/reports are obtained in a timely manner for updating in Onwards management systems.
To work closely with the response repairs, compliance, and strategy teams to ensure properties are maintained to a high standard, works are programmed in a timely manner and that accurate completion documentation is received and recorded to ensure overall compliance and customer safety.
Data Management
Assist the Project leads to maintain up to date information relating to Fire Safety Compliance risk, including ensuring the operation and development of appropriate data management systems, accurately recording all testing, inspection, and remedial works.
Health and Safety
Assist the Project leads to ensure Health & Safety compliance with legislative requirements including CMD Regulations.
Partnership Working
Attend and contribute to contract meetings (Pre-start / Progress).
Attend joint site meetings and inspections with colleagues of tenanted properties to resolve customer complaints, record property condition and identify repair requirements and manage relevant works through to completion.
Customer Service
Support the team to record, maintain and resolve customer queries verbally and within Onwards Customer Relationship Module.
Skills, experience and potential
Essential:
Ability of working in a customer facing environment.
Ability to learn relevant IT packages including Word, Excel, databases and Teams.
Ability to manage data accurately and to demonstrate attention to detail.
Ability to manage a varied workload whilst achieving objectives.
Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in order to achieve collective goals.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
A methodical approach to work, with sound organisational skills, within a team environment, but also an ability to work on your own.
Desirable:
An interest in a housing related field.
An interest in the housing / construction environment.
Qualifications
Essential:
Educated to GCSE level standard in Maths and English ( Level 9-4) or equivalent qualification/ experience.
Competent in the use of ICT in Microsoft applications. such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
Desirable:
Basic construction ONC/HNC qualification or equivalent.
Fire Safety/Landlord Compliance qualification or experience.
