About the Role
We are looking for experienced Commercial Legal Counsel. This role will be based in Singapore and will provide expert legal advice and support to our business operations, with a focus on financial markets and cross-border payments.
The successful candidate will be a proactive, solution-oriented legal professional with a strong commercial acumen in the financial services sector. You will play a crucial role in supporting our business growth while ensuring legal compliance and risk management and will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on complex commercial transactions, particularly in financial markets (FX, Forwards, and Options) and cross-border payments
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and contracts (customers and partners) regarding cross-border remittance, virtual account issuance, FX and derivative, and other new financial services that M-DAQ Group develops.
- Collaborate with sales, compliance, markets, and other internal stakeholders to evaluate legal risks against business opportunities with clients and partners, and propose possible risk mitigation measures for business teams to consider
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Serve as a trusted business partner to Sales representatives, offering proactive legal guidance
- Stay current on legal developments affecting the financial services industry
- Able to work collaboratively with cross-functional, cross-geography team to achieve shared objectives
Desired Skills Set and Attributes
- Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of PQE legal experience
- Experience in payments and financial markets related to spot-FX, forwards, options, and ISDA.
- Prior experience in financial institutions, major payment institutions, capital market licensed entities, or reputable law firm consulting for financial markets will be strongly preferred.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, fluency in Mandarin highly preferred to be able to work with regional markets.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proven ability to balance legal risks with business objectives
