Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ eye health, including medical history and current symptoms.
- Support ophthalmologists during surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
- Provide education to patients about eye care, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform preliminary diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and other assessments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and monitor patients’ recovery progress, addressing any concerns.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families regarding eye conditions and treatments.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
Job Requirement
- Must posses at least a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Ophthalmic Nursing Certification (COT or COA) is often preferred.
- Familiarity with ophthalmic equipment and procedures.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills, particularly in educating patients about eye health.
- Experience in assisting with surgical procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare software.

From a private practice in 1974, Lee Eye Clinic was transformed into a group practice and became known as Lee Eye Centre (LEC) in 1999 with the addition of two Consultant Eye Surgeons. LEC has gone from strength to strength with the expansion of clinical services to include Retinal Surgery in 2009 and Laser Vision Correction in 2011 and now has a total of four Consultant Eye Surgeons making it one of the largest Private Eye Care Centre in Perak.
