Overall Purpose of the Job
The Lead Security Analyst, North Asia (Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Mongolia) is responsible for the day-to-day direction, guidance and analytical line for the region across all internal and client-facing deliverables, in line with the direction set by the Chief Security Analyst East and in alignment with the Security Director, Assistance in line with global standards.
The Lead Security Analyst will be the regional analytical lead for North Asia and will work closely with other Lead Security Analysts and relevant Medical I&A leads on issues of overlap, in addition to being closely integrated into the day-today security assistance operation, ensuring that operational planning and decision-making in both business as usual and crisis scenarios are being fed by, and aligned with, the analytical position and outlook.
The Lead Security Analyst is expected to have an understanding of and interest in shaping – in collaboration with the Content Services professional community - how I&A should be delivered and presented to clients in an audience-centric way across the multimedia digital space.
The Lead Security Analyst will be one of the key company spokespeople in support of Sales and Marketing teams on issues pertaining to North Asia.
The Lead Security Analyst will also play a key role in providing on-the-job training and support for the Security Specialists, I&A in region and in the Global Threat Monitoring (GTM) Centres. They will also be part of regional and global projects to enhance our I&A collection, analysis and dissemination capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Core Client & Internal Support:
· Ensure International SOS’ analytical position and outlook on North Asia is clear to its clients and internal stakeholders in order to inform timely decision-making.
· Ensure the Security Specialist, I&A team is given appropriate collection direction for North Asia on a standing and dynamic basis.
· Ensure the Security Specialist, I&A team has appropriate numbers and diversity of sources for intelligence collection, developing action plans for the Security Director, I&A where appropriate.
· Ensure International SOS’ operational posture and planning for North Asia is taken in full view of the security outlook.
· Oversee functional feedback to regional and GTM Security Specialists for deliverables relating to North Asia, building both subject matter knowledge of the region in the team as well as intelligence analysis and writing best practice.
· Collaborate with relevant stakeholders across the Content Services & Medical I&A professional communities to ensure comprehensiveness of output and overall economy of effort.
· Oversee the maintenance of background client-facing security information, ensuring it is up to date and reflective of the current risk environment and International SOS’ analytical and operational position.
· Contribute to ensuring International SOS has a best-in-class security I&A capability by participating in projects relating to functional enhancements, such as intelligence collection tools and trainings.
· As required travel to countries in the region to assess the current security situation, local provider capabilities and expand the existing network of security I&A and assistance contacts to further support clients and aid operational planning.
· Participation in the Security I&A on-call roster as required.
Consulting Delivery & Sales, Marketing Support (<20% time allocation)
· As required, deliver safety and security trainings and workshops – especially those focused on North Asia – as well as engage in client specific security I&A consultancy tasks as required.
· Support the Sales and Marketing teams in the articulation of International SOS’ services and in providing functional expertise in North Asia client facing forums such as webinars
Personal Development:
· Build an extensive understanding of a 24/7, global, integrated operational intelligence cycle as part of a business supporting clients with analysis and assistance across security, health and logistical threats,
· Undertake competency-based trainings based on management assessment of priorities
· Undertake wider training courses relating to the work of security I&A as agreed with line management.
Job Profile
Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job)
· Extremely strong knowledge of the political, security and natural disaster landscape within North Asia.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to explain complex situations to non-expert audiences in English.
· Ability to critically analyse multiple streams of information under time pressure and produce actionable insights.
· Knowledge of all stages of intelligence cycle including multi-source direction and collection.
· Experience with OSINT tools and analytical techniques.
· On the ground experience in North Asia.
· Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other applications.

Required Work Experience (Brief description of the job-related experience needed to perform the job)
· Typically, at least 6-8 years’ experience in security intelligence analysis and production including a period specialising in North Asia in a relevant sector such as: military, government, NGO, journalism; relevant academic studies.
· Experience at all levels of an intelligence cycle involving digital and human sources.
· Experience on the ground in North Asia.
· Experience in writing to senior management and decision-makers.
Preferred experience:
· International work experience in challenging, remote or hostile environments.
· Experience with OSINT tools and Structured Analytical Techniques.
· Crisis Management experience
· Public speaking, client-facing presentation and/or media experience.
· Experience of working in a customer/client focused role.
Required Qualifications (Brief description of the educational background needed to perform the job)
· Masters degree (or relevant professional training) in a field related to security intelligence, international politics, international relations or similar.
