Job Title: Handyman/ Maintenance Officer
Location: Hatfield Base with regular Countywide Travel
Starting Salary: £29,269 with the opportunity to progress once appointed, to a maximum of £32,076 (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: ideally 37, some flexibility

Job Duties:
Are you good with people? Are you good at caretaking, maintenance, building and fixing a wide range of electrical, plumbing, building and maintenance issues?
Our well-established maintenance team are looking for an experienced Multi-Trader to join us to provide a high standard of repairs and maintenance across a variety of sites at Hertfordshire County Council, Gypsy & Traveller Service. Do you have general knowledge of repairs. Ideally you would be a qualified electrician or plumber, but if you are qualified by experience and can show us this at interview then we would love to hear from you!
Responsibilities in the role will include carrying out repairs to property as part of a team
Maintaining tidiness in the public areas
Encourage tenants to keep their plots presentable. You will work as part of a team and independently.
We operate an out of hours service, which means you would be on-call one week in every eight weeks. This is paid in addition to your salary
This is a fast-paced environment; you will be carrying out reactive maintenance and planned improvements on our residential sites. Therefore, you’ll need to be able to work under pressure, adapt to many situations and be able to connect to a wide range of people. You will take pride in your work, and you will take a pro-active approach to your workload.
You will be great with people and be able to tell us about how you have handled customers when they have been having a good day and a bad day.
You must be able to ensure work is carried out to a high standard, having a building qualification in either Electrical, Plumbing or Carpentry would be ideal, but not essential. You will be confident at talking to people, understanding their issues and being able to fix them. Mainly with our tenants and external partners. You’ll be competent in Microsoft packages and have good record keeping skills, (we can help train with this).
Hours 8-4.30 Monday – Thursday , 8-4 Friday + call out every 6/8 weeks (with additional pay)
You will need a driving licence and car/van to be able to apply for this position.
