Establish design standards for new builds and refurbishments, ensuring alignment with Trust specifications and sustainability goals. Oversee efficient capital project delivery, focusing on stakeholder engagement and compliance, while managing logistics and dispute resolution.

Major Projects and Engineering Assurance
Present development proposals to stakeholders, aligning them with Trust objectives. Oversee contract procurement and quality management of engineering and facilities to ensure compliance and effective issue resolution.

Property and Financial Management
Develop a property strategy to optimise space and generate revenue. Manage project costs within financial targets and engage stakeholders to enhance the portfolio.

It aims to give the successful applicant an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to and lead a different kind of work identifying asymptomatic people, providing early diagnosis of both lung cancer and other lung diseases, alongside planning the appropriate follow up.

The programme requires a leader who is able to collaborate with multiple partners throughout the wider programme

The post holder will also have a key role to play in developing the implementation of the programme throughout West London, with responsibilities for protocol development and execution, continual audit and data analysis.

West London Targeted Lung Health Check started to recruit patients from October 2023. Patients registered at GP practices between the ages of 55 to 74 with a smoking history have been invited to attend for the lung health check. This is a rolling programme where the first phase comprised of three London boroughs, this has since increased to include additional London boroughs, therefore covering a larger population.

Lung cancer screening with CT has been implemented via numerous pilot projects across the UK. RM Partners, in collaboration with the Royal Brompton Hospital successfully implemented a pilot lung cancer CT screening project in West London in 2018-19 and continued until April 2024.

This post has been created to continue and expand this collaboration through the West London screening programme and has seen the introduction of three scan review meetings at three separate sites - Harefield Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare Trust. There will be cross site working with all three sites in order to provide the leadership and governance needed for the programme to successfully develop further

We are seeking to recruit a qualified echocardiographer to join our renowned and expanding department. We have a strong record in research and developing new clinical services and patterns of working. We have been instrumental in developing national standards for echocardiography and for developing the new clinical scientist discipline. At an individual level we focus on role development with scientist-led valve clinics and our own TOE and bubble lists. Opportunities for continuing professional development are excellent and studying for postgraduate qualifications is encouraged. Health Education England have commissioned five HSST (Higher Specialist Scientific Training) posts in Cardiac Science here at GSTT in recent years. We are actively encouraging our echocardiographers to seek equivalence via the Academy for Healthcare Science and become registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as Clinical Scientists. Our five echo-specialist cardiologists have wide ranging interests including stress echo, 3D, valve disease, heart failure, CRT and adult congenital heart disease.

Our working days run from 8am until 6pm and weekend work is routine. Flexible working (including annualised hours) is available for our staff. Currently work is carried out across three sites (St Thomas’, Guys and Tessa Jowell Health Centre in East Dulwich). Successful candidates will be part of a rotation to give you widespread exposure across all three sites.

This position would suit an echocardiographer with a good grounding in transthoracic echocardiography and an interest in developing their skills within a specialist area. We have some flexibility in direction of role development so the field of expertise will depend on the individual’s aptitude and interest in conjunction with service requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to motivate, develop and lead a small team within their area, be responsible for specialist training and service development and to work closely with the Head of Echocardiography to achieve this. BSE accreditation or an equivalent qualification is essential. Part-time positions will be considered.

Job Summary
This position is for a BSE accredited (or equivalent), independently reporting echocardiographer. The post holder will perform their own transthoracic echo lists and provide reports and expert opinions to other health professionals. The post holder will perform studies within a specialist area of echocardiography (e.g. stress echo, bubbles, or TOE) and will be expected to contribute to non-clinical projects as required (e.g. QA and audit, infection control, machine and IT maintenance or stock control).
Key Relationships
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of physiologists, echocardiographers, consultant cardiologists, junior doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, clerical and administrative staff and our porter. The post will involve training physiologists and doctors and the post holder will be expected to act as a role model and mentor to the trainees.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Professional / Clinical responsibilities
Perform transthoracic echocardiograms to a high standard in accordance with BSE guidelines and department minimum standards.
• Identify and advise when transthoracic echocardiography is insufficient to answer the clinical question and proactively suggest and arrange alternative/additional investigations.
• Produce an accurate and comprehensive report for each study,
• Ensure that personal knowledge base is current to reflect change in clinical echocardiography.
• Depending on previous experience or agreed internal training programme and sign off, perform specialist echo to a high standard as follows:
• Perform transoesophageal echocardiograms including record keeping (in particular probe infection control measures), interpretation and patient care.
• Perform stress echocardiograms (exercise and pharmacological) and assist with all aspects of the procedure including record keeping, interpretation and patient safety.
• Perform 3D echocardiograms with appropriate record keeping, interpretation and archiving.
• Perform contrast/bubble contrast echocardiography including keeping adequate stock levels of consumables, record keeping, interpretation and patient safety.
• Perform complex dyssynchrony studies pre and post device implant including appropriate analysis and archiving.
• Perform complex adult congenital studies including record keeping, interpretation and patient care.
• Perform research studies as required with appropriate record keeping, interpretation and archiving.
• Perform other highly specialist technical and specialist technical roles as required including ECG interpretation.

A Vacancy at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.


This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the activity of the paediatric cardiology department and gain skills in obtaining, reporting and presenting congenital cardiac MRI and CT imaging. Whilst it is expected that the majority of the time in this post will be dedicated to MRI and CT, there will be a requirement to contribute to the inpatient service work for two weeks / year in line with the other post-CCT fellows in paediatric cardiology. Please refer to job description for further information and an example timetable.

MRI and CT:
The post holder will participate in the congenital MRI and CT service. This includes paediatric cardiac MRI & CT lists in addition to preparing patients, scanning and reporting. It is also expected that the post holder will be available to present imaging findings in multi-disciplinary meetings.

Afterhours on call
The post holder will join the cardiology fellow on call rota, which is currently a partial shift (24 hour on call period) on a 1:12 basis. The rota is constantly under review and may change during the course of the post.

Training:
The training will be clinically orientated with a focus on high quality cardiac MRI and CT imaging. There is an emphasis on incorporation of this imaging into the wider clinical service.

Clinical Research:
There is no fixed research activity within the post, however involvement in existing research projects or participation in clinical audit is encouraged.

Teaching Responsibilities:
The post holder will be expected to participate in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, contribute to the training and support of doctors in training, including the role of mentoring of junior staff in the speciality and teaching of medical students.

The Department of Congenital Heart Disease sits within the newly formed Paediatric Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care Directorate of the Evelina London Children´s Hospital. There are 19 cardiology and 3 cardiac surgical consultants based on the Evelina London site covering a range of subspecialist areas including cardiac surgery, fetal cardiology, cardiac imaging and interventional cardiology. Our surgical programme covers the full range of congenital heart surgery.

Paediatric Cardiac Services

The Department of Paediatric Cardiology provides a comprehensive service to children with congenital and acquired heart disease throughout the network. The Department has an active programme of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, a complete Interventional Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Echocardiography, specialised cross sectional imaging and Electrophysiology.

Detailed job description


This post will sit within the clinical theme of the HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) dedicated to children’s HealthTech research. This is called “Congenital Heart Diseasesin Children –PaediatricTechnologies”.The theme aims to narrow the gap between the unmet health and care needs of children and families living with congenital heart disease, and the HealthTech researchers (including academic and industrial partners) who arebest-placedto develop innovative solutions.


The HRCPaediatricCardiology Nurse will play a key role in achieving the objectives of the HRC congenital cardiac diseases in children theme. They are responsiblefor providingindividual packages of work and service support to ensure project outputs are delivered effectively. They will havedutyof care in supporting children and their families throughout their participation in any project activity, acting as the participants’ advocate at all times.


The post holder will take a lead on specific projects or aspects of a project aimed atidentifying,validatingandprioritisingthe unmet needs of children and young people living with congenital heart disease, theirfamiliesand the NHS workforce responsible for their care. The HRCPaediatricCardiology Nurse will have responsibilityfor,day-to-day delivery and adjusting plans as required to ensure that risks and issues are mitigated.

Project Management

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the complex discharge teams in the Heart, Lung Critical Care Clinical Group. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Administrator to join the Complex discharge teams across Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills and an ability to work independently as well as part of teams that work on both sites (Royal Brompton and Harefield). The post is based at Harefield but will require the post holder to cover administration tasks at the Royal Brompton with occasional travel there. This is a full time position (37.5 hours). The complex discharge team comprises of social workers and clinical nurse specialist who are responsible to managing transfers of care from hospital and ensuring the provision of ongoing care. This involves liaison with multi agency and providers.

The post holder will provide administrative support to the Complex Discharge teams across Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. They will support the management of referrals to the complex discharge team and independently carry out patient initial assessments and screening to prepare for discharge from hospital. They will provide a direct link and interface between the discharge team and the hospital wards with regard to any active complex discharge team referrals. Where appropriate this will also include organising discharge follow-up with local community services, including GP surgeries. They will support with administration of Continuing health care and Fast Track for the complex discharge team. Job Summary

This position is for a BSE accredited (or equivalent), independently reporting echocardiographer. The post holder will perform their own transthoracic echo lists and provide reports and expert opinions to other health professionals. The post holder will perform studies within a specialist area of echocardiography (e.g. stress echo, bubbles, or TOE) and will be expected to contribute to non-clinical projects as required (e.g. QA and audit, infection control, machine and IT maintenance or stock control).

Key Relationships

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of physiologists, echocardiographers, consultant cardiologists, junior doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, clerical and administrative staff and our porter. Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms to a high standard in accordance with BSE guidelines and department minimum standards.
• Identify and advise when transthoracic echocardiography is insufficient to answer the clinical question and proactively suggest and arrange alternative/additional investigations.

We are one of the largest cardiac MRI scanning centres in the UK. Our Imaging Clinical Research Facility is based in our St Thomas Hospital campus with strong research collaboration focusing on the development of novel acquisition, reconstruction and motion correction using different field strength MRI scanners. The facility is run by King’s College London, the University partner in close partnership with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Clinical services are delivered to approximately 13,000 patients a year (Cardiac MRI, Perinatal MRI and the PET Centre), and were recently re-accredited in accordance with the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) 2021

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join our nationally accredited clinical research imaging team. The department supports and mentors Radiographers in their personal and professional development including actively encouraging staff to attend high profile national and international seminars, conferences, presenting posters, abstracts and presentations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Inherited Cardiac Conditions team as a Band 4 Patient Pathway Coordinator working within the Cardiology Service in the Cardiovascular Directorate.

This is a fixed term position for 18 months, with a view to extension if further funding is secured. It will be based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ but will also require some working for Kings College Hospital, although this can be done remotely.

The role will be pivotal onsupporting the regional roll out of the sudden cardiac death programme anddeveloping the introduction of the Phenotips system within the ICC Service. This is a new initiative and the successful candidate will be working closely with a range of clinical and managerial staff.

The Patient Pathway Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Service Manager for Cardiology. They will be expected to work autonomously but under direction. The role is key to delivering an effective service to families bereaved through sudden cardiac death (SCD) and survivors of cardiac arrest (SCA). The postholder will need to liaise closely with both the ICC staff and the clinical genetics team to ensure seamless care and support for these individuals and their families.



This role provides efficient and high quality secretarial and administrative support to ICC consultants and nurses, clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors and their teams, working in close co-operation with staff and other health professionals. The post-holder will be pivotal in the implementation of the Phenotips system for recording patient’s family history.



The post holder will also be responsible for the timely cancellation of clinics and where required co-ordinating the arrangements for replacement and adhoc clinics.



The post holder will also be involved coordination of the Cardiovascular genetics multi-disciplinary meetings through close working with the Clinical Genetics department and Cardiac Genetics team



They will support the regional roll out of the sudden cardiac death programme including organising and minuting quarterly meetings of the regional team.

The post holder will ensure that patient care and access is in carried out in accordance with the access policy.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical nurse specialist team in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the Royal Brompton Hospital.The post holder will join the existing ACHD clinical nurse specialist and work as a key member of a successful multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, physiologists and administrative staff. All team members are supported in their professional development and encouraged to take an active role in service development

The role will be based at Royal Brompton Hospital but with clinical work at taking place in outreach clinics within the network.

This role will primarily support the inpatient and outpatient service with nurse led clinics for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service.
