The PLC Software Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our automation systems. They will be pivotal in ensuring that our systems are optimized for productivity, quality, and safety. Additionally, they will help drive continuous improvements and support future automation initiatives.
Main responsibilities
1. Focusing on the development, programming, and maintenance of automation systems.
2. Ensuring that control systems are properly installed, configured, and optimized to meet production and operational requirements.
3. Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and supporting continuous improvement projects in the automation domain.
List of tasks
- Design, program, and implement PLC-based control systems for automated equipment and processes.
- Develop and modify PLC software to meet operational requirements and ensure compatibility with hardware systems.
- Conduct testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of PLC systems to ensure smooth functioning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to enhance automation solutions.
- Integrate PLCs with HMIs, SCADA systems, and other control system interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all automation systems.
- Document software and hardware configurations, changes, and procedures for future reference.
- Perform routine system maintenance and updates to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related field.
- Experience in PLC programming, with knowledge of common PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider).
- Strong technical expertise in Pharmaceuticals is an advantage.
- Familiarity with HMI and SCADA systems, including system integration and communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with system commissioning, maintenance, and optimization.
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance regulations in automation and control systems.
- Travel expectations up to approx. 25%
