At the entry level of this position, you will:

• Perform legal research, writing, and analysis and provide legal advice and policy recommendations on counseling and/or enforcement regarding matters arising under the Clean Air Act (CAA); Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA); Toxic Substances Control Act; (TSCA), and/or Emergency Planning and Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) or other environmental statutes administered by EPA.
• Build effective working relationships as a liaison working closely with Region 10 program clients and EPA headquarter offices, including the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), Office of General Counsel (OGC), and other entities such as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and state and tribal governments to ensure that relevant and accurate information is exchanged regarding actions that may affect Regional program objectives.
• Represent Region 10 in dealings with outside parties, including negotiating the settlement of disputed matters and the use of alternative dispute resolution procedures. Serve as EPA's legal counsel assisting DOJ to ensure that the Agency's views are represented in judicial proceedings.

• Build effective working relationships as a liaison working closely with Region 10 program clients, including the Superfund and Emergency Management Division (SEMD), EPA headquarter offices, including the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), Office of General Counsel (OGC), and other entities such as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and state and tribal governments to ensure that relevant and accurate information is exchanged regarding actions that may affect Regional program objectives;
• Represent Region 10 in dealings with outside parties, including negotiating the settlement of cleanup and cost recovery matters at Superfund sites. Serve as EPA's legal counsel assisting DOJ to ensure that the Agency's views are represented in judicial proceedings.

• Assist senior specialists in conducting program analysis functions.
• Collect data from reference sources in office and incorporates it into typed/computer generated material.
• Provide information and assistance on procedural requirements and formats for filing various data and material.
• Assemble materials for staff associated with briefings, conferences, and meetings.
• Research legal and regulatory material to obtain factual information and/or interpretation for use by the supervisor or co-workers.
