The Faculty of Science is seeking to appoint a Faculty Administrator to work within the Faculty Office as part of a busy, friendly team. This role will be responsible for the provision of flexible and efficient administrative support to members of the Faculty Executive Team, supporting Faculty processes and administrative support to the Science Transformation Programme, which is a major new programme of investment in Science at Durham.

The position is varied, interesting and an opportunity to work with colleagues across the Faculty and wider university. The role is to assist the project manager for EPSRC-funded network for EDI in the Energy Research Community, 'EDI+'. The vision for the EDI+ network is to acknowledge and address key challenges and equip a cohort of researchers and their organizations to make lasting changes toward a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible research community. This will have impact beyond the academy and set a precedent, offering the means to tailor EDI action among the divers organizations participating in energy research. The Computing and Information Services (CIS) has an annual operational budget in the order of £10m, multi-million pound programmes of change within year, and approximately 185 staff. The Senior Leadership Team report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the following portfolios: Strategy and Change; Operations; and Information Systems. The Common Awards Assistant Quality Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our national Common Awards partnership with the Church of England and Theological Education Institution (TEI) partners across England, Scotland and Wales.

• Coordinate and liaise with auditors (internal, external or funder) where grant audits are required to ensure timely and successful audit procedures.


• Initiate collaboration agreement process with the contracts team and advise on financial requirements for collaborators.


• Provide training on post-award procedures to departmental staff.


• Keep abreast of changes to funders' rules and regulations and other HE sector changes that may affect the University's portfolio of awarded research grants.

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is looking to recruit a Grade 4 Learning and Teaching Administrator to join the Learning and Teaching team in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This role will support all aspects of the delivery of the University's Global Strategy, with particular responsibility for the development and delivery of the regional recruitment strategy to enable the institution to achieve recruitment targets across South East Asia.

The post will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of International Student Recruitment, and will be responsible for the line management of an International Officer employed through Accumen and based in Malaysia.

With support from their line manager and colleagues, the post holder will be able to develop their knowledge of Durham University and the wider international higher education sector, and acquire expertise in promoting a Russell Group institution. They will use their networking skills to assist the University's relationship management in market, to ensure we provide excellent service to school counsellors, education agents, and prospective students.

The role will require significant travel to key recruitment markets, initially including Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, although market responsibilities may change over time in line with the external student recruitment landscape and the priorities of Durham University. Recruitment trips can be up to 2 weeks long and involve evening and weekend working.

We have adopted hybrid working with team members currently working a minimum of 2 days per week on campus in Durham. We encourage all team members to be on campus on a Wednesday so the team can connect, other on campus days are flexible and based on business need.

The Role and the Department

The International Office is responsible for:

· The recruitment of international students to all areas of the university to meet institutional targets

· Supporting and managing the development of international partnerships and relationships with key sponsor bodies and international stakeholders to raise the University's global profile, meet recruitment goals and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations

· Managing the university's student mobility programmes (Erasmus+ and other exchange partnerships) to meet the University's student mobility targets

The role will provide leadership for a team of administrators who support all aspects of the work of the international office. This work includes supporting inbound and outbound delegations, servicing a portfolio of education agents and sponsor and scholarship organisations, supporting internal communications and supporting diary management of the Director - International.
