Incumbent plans, designs and instructs a variety of group fitness classes for small and large groups. Participates in brainstorming sessions to develop programs, events and classes for a well-rounded physical fitness program. Keep up to date on the latest fitness trends and developments. Answers questions regarding programs offered through the Fitness Center and or other MWR Facilities/services available to the customer. Continuously evaluates the participation and interest level of fitness classes and programs from the standpoint of participant responses, resources, unforeseen developments, and program objectives. Recommends program changes and variations as necessary to the Fitness Coordinator. Endures cleanliness of exercise spaces and equipment and reports general wear and tear of collateral equipment. In charge of setting up and breaking down room pre and post exercise class.

Knowledge Required by the Position
Must possess and maintain a current CPR and AED Certifications and must possess nationally recognized certification in Group Exercise.

Guidelines
Guidelines include DOD manuals, directives, OPNAV instructions pertaining to physical readiness standards and Standards Operating Procedures. Incumbent will ensure that the Fitness Center operations comply with all OSHA, BUMED, DOD, BUPERS and local safety guidelines.

Scope and Effect
The purpose is to promote maximum participation and interest group fitness activities.

Personal Contacts
The incumbent will interface with all patrons, including active-duty and retired military members, their dependents and authorized DOD civilian personnel as well as other department employees.

Purpose of Contacts
Contacts are for the purpose of educating and motivating current and potential patrons. The incumbent must be able to exercise good judgement and display as sound personal character and cooperative demeanor in serving the military community.

Physical Demands
This position requires a high level of physical fitness and may instruct numerous fitness class per day.

Work Environment
Work is outdoors as well as being performed in a Fitness Center setting. Both settings will require safety precautions to avoid muscle strain or other bodily injury. Indoor work area is will lighted and properly ventilated. Outdoor area will be lighted and stable

• Welcomes patrons into the program area/library and ensures that patrons are authorized to use library equipment and facilities.
• Registers library users so that these patrons may borrow library materials.
• Circulates library materials to patrons (checking library materials in and out) by using HQ approved

• Removes items from the book drop daily and clears these items from patron accounts.
• Reports high circulation items which are in poor condition or missing to supervisor.

• You will question suspicious persons and warn or detain violators of laws, regulations, policies, rules or posted warnings.
• You will serve as member of entry control/vehicle inspection team, which conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections.
• You will control, prepare, issues identification badges, cards, and passes that allow access of visitors, contractors, foreign nationals, government agents, elected officials, media representatives, and DV personnel.

Victim Advocacy/Support duties comprise 75% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:

• Provides 24/7 support for victims' immediate needs: assesses safety concerns, provides reporting options, provides information on available resources, and facilitates referrals.
• Serves as an advocate for the expressed interests of victims with all intervening agencies to include law enforcement, medical, and legal.
• Maintains follow-up contact with the victim as requested by the victim and accompanies the victim to appointments and civilian and military court proceedings, as appropriate and when requested by the victim.
• Supports victims in advocating on his/her behalf and provides assistance with prioritizing actions and establishing short- and long-term goals related to recovery from sexual assault.
• Assists victims with contacting appropriate military and civilian legal offices for personal legal advice and assistance specific to the victim's circumstances or case, including the filing for civilian or military protective orders.
• Serves on the SAPR watch bill.
• Ensures timely notification of the SARC and provides the necessary demographic and/or incident detail to allow for comprehensive documentation in the Defense Sexual Assault Incident Database (DSAID).
• Ensures the victim understands that speaking with the SAPR VA is voluntary.
• Attends sexual assault Case Management Group (CMG) meetings when a case is presented involving a victim with whom the SAPR VA is assigned in order to advocate on behalf of the victim and to ensure the victim's needs are met.
• Reports victim's support services and response information to the SARC and consults with the SARC on an ongoing basis to ensure comprehensive care for victims throughout the care process.
• Travels to different locations for training and to coordinate tasks/actions with clients, command, military and civilian agencies within the local area of the installation.

• Assists the installation SARC with interfacing with military and civilian agencies to identify relevant resources and means of accessing appropriate services to promote availability of victim advocacy services and support systems.
• Assists the SARC with the development and coordination of installation SAPR prevention and public awareness campaigns and local events.
• Ensures marketing materials and 24/7 contact information is prominently displayed across the installation.
• Assists the SARC with maintaining a cadre of trained, certified unit SAPR VAs.
• Assists the SARC with incident data collection and reporting requirements.
• Captures service delivery outputs in the Fleet and Family Services Management Information System (FFSMIS).
• Trains commands, SAPR VAs, Unit Victim Advocates (UVA), and others as requested utilizing standardized curriculum provided by CNIC Headquarters (HQ) SAPR.
• Ensures command SAPR personnel are properly trained to provide briefings to commands that include proper reporting procedures, maintaining victim confidentiality, and available victim support services.

• Performs all pool and/or waterfront lifeguard responsibilities (e.g., supervising swimmers/patrons and their activities, monitoring all natural water activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, reporting safety hazards to supervisor, performing water rescues as necessary, etc.).
• Observes conditions of area assigned (e.g., possible hazards, water/chemical conditions, wind and weather, etc.) to ensure a safe environment, removing hazardous materials when necessary (e.g., floating debris, glass, etc.).
• Performs rescue work, promptly renders cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or emergency first aid, and calls for medical assistance as necessary.
• Conducts and documents pool chemical testing results. Checks chlorine and pH levels on a scheduled basis; notifies Certified Pool Operator or supervisor of chemical imbalances; adjusts chemicals as directed.
• Documents water conditions and weather conditions.
• Administers aquatic assessment testing and certification in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON) and CNIC policy.

• Serves as the primary liaison between the activity, security, medical departments, and Aquatics Coordinator during emergency situations.
• Performs cleaning duties (e.g., basic janitorial services, vacuuming, skimming, etc.) and routine facility maintenance as assigned by Aquatics Coordinator. Inspects stands, boards, ropes, safety gear and condition of the dressing rooms, ensuring they are within the condition required by environmental health standards. Informs supervisor of deficiencies.
• Uses and maintains care of emergency equipment (e.g., specialized kits and bags, backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, monitoring equipment, etc.).
• Enforces applicable policies and procedures of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) regarding the use of Aquatic facilities and waterfront operations.
• Prepares accident/incident reports during emergency situations. Notifies management of all emergencies immediately.
• Works with hazardous materials (e.g., cleaning agents, pool chemicals, etc.).

• Performs and or assists in the operation of the recreation activity.
• The employee performs basic fitness orientation, identify and correct unsafe fitness techniques, supervise intramural sporting events, clean and maintain facility and equipment, and perform administrative duties as needed.
• The employee must have the ability to understand basic fitness principles, learned through in-house training.
• The Fitness Assistant reports to the Fitness Coordinator or Sports Coordinator in most cases.
• Typical assignments may include establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in supervising assigned youth participants in indoor and outdoor activities; setting up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events; scheduling and conducting tours.
• Demonstrates procedures common to the activities and instructs the use of related equipment.

• You will position firefighting vehicles in consideration of external factors (e.g., wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft).
• You will inspect hazardous material equipment and supplies for operational readiness.
• You will perform structural firefighting and rescue duties in buildings, housing units, or confined spaces to eliminate and control fires.
• You will survey an incident from a safe location to identify whether hazardous materials have been released.
• You will establish communication with an ambulance or hospital to relay patient information.

The duties and responsibilities of the CY Program Assistant have been grouped into categories, including curriculum, indoor and outdoor environment, interactions and relationships, supervision of children and youth, parent and employee communication, assessment, compliance, and additional responsibilities. Each is described below.

Curriculum

Develops schedules and activity plans. This may include reviewing and providing input into schedules and activity plans developed by the entry level and intermediate level Educational Aids (CY Program Assistants), CY-1702-I. Ensures that program plans and activities incorporate the observed needs of individual children and youth.

Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth. Incorporates special instructions provided by parents such as special dietary needs, physical needs, or other information that may affect the child or youth's experience in the program.

Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements. Cares for children and youth with special needs as directed by the supervisor.

Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities.

Role models developmentally appropriate practice and classroom or activity area management techniques.

Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices.

Helps arrange for and/or serve appropriate snacks or meals where applicable.

Indoor and Outdoor Environment

Helps prepare, arrange and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.

Sets up displays and bulletin boards.

Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies.

Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.

Interactions and Relationships

Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth and adults.

Supervision of Children and Youth

Provides care and supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD), NAF Component, and local installation policies, guidance, and standards.

Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth.

Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events.

Ensures children and youth (as applicable) depart with authorized person according to written parental instructions.

Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse, or neglect and reports as directed. Incumbent is a mandatory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect.

Parent and Employee Communication

Interacts professionally with employees, parents, and local installation command personnel.

Provides parents with daily verbal or written feedback about their child/youth or program activities.

Participates in conferences with parents and employees.

Assessment

Observes children and youth and documents developmental progression and/or concerns. Uses the information in planning.

A.
