• Identify, articulate, and pursue suspected immigration benefit fraud, public safety, and national security concerns.
• Conduct administrative investigations and site visits to obtain documents, conduct interviews, perform system checks, and make determinations regarding potential administrative and/or criminal violations.
• Serve as a liaison to law enforcement and intelligence agencies and participate in inter-agency task forces and partner-agency investigations to combat fraud, and deter and detect national security and public safety threats.
• Develop anti-fraud tools and methodologies to collect and analyze data to identify fraud trends and patterns and to make recommendations to address vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the immigration system.
• Develop, document, and disseminate intelligence-related data and training materials to internal and external partners.
• Serve as an expert witness and represent USCIS in related court proceedings.

The attorney will serve as advisor to the Chief of the Adjudications Law Division (ALD), the Chief Counsel, and to USCIS and other Departmental components on issues relating to the adjudication of immigration benefits. ALD attorneys provide advice to the Director and USCIS Operations on the legal consequences of laws, policies and initiatives that affect immigration benefit processing and adjudications (including nonimmigrant visas, adjustment of status, I-140 and inadmissibility). ALD attorneys' responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing regulations, policy memoranda, and field guidance for legal sufficiency. ALD attorneys also provide litigation support to the Department of Justice in federal lawsuits involving USCIS regulations, adjudications, practices, and/or policies. These positions are supervised by an ALD Deputy and the ALD Chief. The duty station will be at HQ Camp Springs or any currently existing USCIS office location duty station.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing legal advice to the Chief Counsel, USCIS personnel, and other Departmental components on issues relating to the adjudication of immigration benefits, asylee and refugee processing, and related litigation. • Research and interpret sources including immigration laws and regulations, operating instructions, legislative history, precedent decisions, state and local laws, and international treaties to determine adjudicative decision.
