The Team & Role:
Business Insider’s Singapore bureau is a small team that thrives on jumping on the biggest news of the day, pivoting quickly, and being highly selective with angles and news framing choices.
As a jr. reporter, you will be responsible for covering some of the biggest business stories of the day. You will cover a broad range of stories on our business vertical, including tech, finance, and retail. We’ll ask you to pay close attention to major players like OpenAI, Tesla, Amazon, Google, and Facebook.
You’ll be working on various story formats, including news hits in 300 words, interviews with analysts and experts, and features with strong attention to narrative storytelling. Your deadlines will range from 10 minutes for breaking news to several days for features.
You can expect to publish at least one story a day. You might also be asked to support senior-level reporters with research and reporting. The news you’ll cover daily is global, ranging from the US and China to Ukraine and Israel.
This role reports to the deputy bureau chief in the Singapore bureau. It will be based in Singapore and will be hybrid (a mix of remote and in-office days). Our working hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Is a voracious consumer of business and global breaking news
- Knows how to advance a story with fast-turnaround reporting and analysis
- Thrives working on short deadlines and juggling multiple responsibilities at once
- Is a self-starter who’s eager to get their hands dirty and take on assignments from editors
