Here at Brasenose College, we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly College Maintenance Team, we are looking to recruit a Facilities & Maintenance Assistant. The role is offered as a full-time, permanent contract, working 39 hours per week, 8am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 4pm on Friday, with an unpaid hour for lunch.

The post holder is responsible for providing a consistent standard of care and upkeep of all College properties. This includes but is not limited to maintenance work such as furniture repair, decorating, and carrying out manual handling tasks such as moving furniture and room set ups. For this reason, experience with general maintenance and carpentry is essential. The role will report into the Workshop Manager and work closely with the Maintenance Team, but it will require some working alone. It should be noted that working outside in all types of weather is required for this post.

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Kitchen Porter to join our outstanding Kitchen team at Brasenose College and be responsible for the daily cleaning of the kitchen and equipment and ensuring food deliveries are safely stored.

Main responsibilities:

To correctly store goods received in a timely manner
To carry out general cleaning of walls, floors and food preparation services
To wash/clean kitchen equipment, utensils, working surfaces and floors
To observe hygiene, health and safety regulations and good practice
To work to a cleaning schedule to ensure all kitchen areas are cleaned regularly
To assist the Plate Room when necessary
To carry out other duties as necessary to assist the team and function of the kitchen

We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly, Servery/Kitchen Assistant to join our outstanding kitchen team. Working alongside other Servery/Kitchen Assistants, you will carry out a variety of manual tasks associated with food service in the servery and kitchen, and associated cleaning duties of workspace.

- Prepare pre-ordered baguettes and salads
- Prepare the servery and serve breakfast and lunch
- Clean down food service and associated areas

Ideally you will have some previous experience and basic knowledge of food preparation and be able to work without direct supervision. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required along with a can-do, professional approach to work.

The appointment, which is pensionable, will be made on the College salary scale, Grade 2 - £24,586 pa (£11.82 per hour), plus generous staff benefits.

Job title: Lodge Porter (Nights)

Reports to: Lodge Manager and Security & Safety Manager in their absence

Salary: Brasenose College Grade 3b (Salary range £22,257 – £24,901 per annum) dependant on previous relevant experience

Contract type: Permanent, 35 hours per week (averaged out over a 4-week period)

The Lodge is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

Located centrally in beautiful Radcliffe Square, and dating from 1509, Brasenose College is one of the older Colleges in Oxford.

We are looking for a Lodge Porter (Nights) to join our friendly team. This is a people facing role and you will have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with a range of people. You will be able to remain calm under pressure and have a high degree of common sense.

Night Porters are required to carry out regular patrols at our residential sites in central Oxford and deal with any security and behavioural issues tactfully and professionally.

There is a rolling shift pattern of 4 nights on, from 9pm through to 7am, (10 paid hours per shift), followed by 4 rest days. Occasionally you may be required to work beyond the regular shift times, for which additional overtime hours will be paid.
