The Role:

Dad's first language is BSL so if you have experience in this, great. If not don't worry as we will provide full training.

Your shifts will involve:

Facilitating learning and growth through structured activities, such as baking, arts and crafts and using technology like iPads.
Encouraging independence and helping to support problem-solving day to day.
Working in partnership with all concerned to provide consistent, holistic support that respects and values the family dynamic.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience in education, special needs teaching or therapeutic work with complex needs and who is now seeking a more personalised and impactful way to support individuals with autism.

Beyond Limits is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Education Support Lead to provide tailored care, support, and education for two young adults with autism in their family home. This role involves not only leading a small team of support assistants but also delivering direct support. Working alongside specialist teachers, family and other professionals, you will lead a small team but also work in collaboration with the wider people involved in their lives.

The role:

As an Education Support Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring and delivering personalised care and education. You will oversee the day-to-day support provided by your team and develop strategies to enhance their learning and development. Your experience will be in leadership and development as well as hands on support for people with complex needs.

Your shifts will involve:

Leading a dedicated team of support assistants and inspiring them to provide exceptional care and support
Offering hands-on assistance and showcasing best practices in care and education
Gaining a thorough understanding of the individual Education and Support plans to ensure tailored support
Creating and implementing engaging teaching activities that promote learning and growth

Jack is a great young man and he has a committed team around him, he is just looking to add a casual support worker to support his team leader. He lives in his own home and is usually active during the day, he enjoys the outdoors and loves an adrenaline rush. His favourite thing to do is swimming but he also likes walking and adventure areas. When chilling out he likes to watch Star Wars and Marvel movies and he enjoys a crumpet with peanut butter.

During the days you will be supporting Jack out and about participating in one of the many activities he enjoys, Jack is a good sleeper but has Epilepsy will need staff to keep an eye on him at night. There will always two people working with Jack. You will be expected to use initiative and be able to work as part of a team and provide consistency for Jack.

Lou loves to hunt out a good bargain but just now she is on the hunt for a Team Leader. She loves to shop, is absolutely crazy about Harry Potter and she has a great sense of humour.

Lou is incredibly sociable and she has many hobbies, including shopping and spending time with her kitten Harry. She likes to listen to music and she has an eclectic taste in artists, she also enjoys and is very good at singing along to pantomimes and musicals.

Working for a small person-centred organization your job will be to join a team, who in their various roles, are supporting a family, including a middle-aged man (N) with Autism and his father (M) who has Motor Neurone Disease.
This vital and rewarding support will enable each member of the family to get on with living their own and their shared family lives during this changing time.

Requirements will vary from day to day and over the coming months, so flexibility and patience will be greatly appreciated.
M has memory and navigational difficulties and may be more at risk from infection due to swallowing difficulties. His personal care needs are expected to increase. Quiet and thoughtful assistance will enable M to sustain his relationship with all of his children and grandchildren.

N has learning/ communication difficulties and has PTSD following an assault in 1999. He lives in his own apartment in the house next door to the family home. Unless he is at an activity elsewhere, he chooses to spend part of each day in his parents’ house. He usually arrives mid to late morning, has lunch with the family, makes phone calls, FaceTime’s his girlfriend, and stays until about 6pm when he returns to his apartment to make his own supper.
N’s needs often come first, and sometimes they will interrupt other routines. He can become very distressed if arrangements change suddenly.

Requirements:

Main Duties:

Driving and accompanying family members to appointments or for an outing.
Assisting M with any activities that require fine motor control or lifting.
Helping with general household tasks including shopping/food preparation/cooking/ washing up/disposing of rubbish.
General companionship including playing board games, enjoying music with N, going for a walk with M.
Collaborating with the family and other team members to provide the best possible care and support with S’ guidance (S is mother of N, wife of M).

Training is provided to ensure everyone’s safety.

We need an individual who is passionate about working with people and who is looking to enhance the lives of our clients who are members of the same family.

Ideally, we would like an individual with previous care experience and/or experience working with or living with an adult with learning disabilities/autism. The right attitude and the desire to help others and a willingness to do further training is as important.

1. Support for Trips:

• Maintain up-to-date Risk Assessment documentation for trips.
• Entails the task of mapping, developing, and charting trekking routes during recce trips.
• Assist in administrative tasks, including participant registration, program documentation, and logistical coordination.
• Contribute to the setup, maintenance, and inventory management of outdoor equipment such as tents, trangia stoves, and more.
• Creating materials essential for camps and programs, including but not limited to trainer manuals, camp materials, and other related documents.

2. Facilitation:

• You will lead and oversee camps in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, as well as other overseas camping grounds.
• Act as Supervisor or Assessor for the International Duke of Edinburgh Award.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during activities, maintaining high-risk management standards.

3. Planning:

• Revise and oversee the camp planning calendar, logistics, itinerary coordination, and enlistment of proficient freelancers.
• Maintain a sound knowledge of Beyond Limits Expeditions systems and procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to evaluate program effectiveness and suggest improvements.

4. Hiring:

• You will actively participate in the hiring and recruitment processes for our pool of freelancers.
• Active communication with freelancers to coordinate and manage their roles.
• Responsibility for ensuring trainers receive industry-standard training and adhere to safeguarding policies.
• Handling other necessary details related to freelancer management and engagement.

Requirements:

• Must be able to travel and stay abroad for extended durations.
• Candidates must have a background in leading outdoor education programs and should have managed at least 2 outdoor education awards, such as DOE, NYAA, or equivalent certifications.
• Completed recognised treks or achieved notable accomplishments.
• Experience in working with children and adults within the Outdoor Education industry.
• Degree or similar level qualification.
• Current Wilderness First Aid or recognised First Aid/CPR certification.
• Bronze Medallion Lifesaving Certificate or Water Safety Award.
• Previous Child Safeguarding training.
• Familiarity with Risk Management systems and best practices.
