Job Description
The Pre-Make Lead coordinates activities related to the Pre-Make Ready department that is responsible for ensuring the Pressroom has the proper tools and inks in the time required by the production schedule.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Cylinder Inventory Management.
• Print cart set up/Print cart tear down.
• Ink dispensing and inventory management.
• Parts washing and maintenance of the parts washers and distillers
• Parts repair – including sumps, pumps, various parts for print carts, etc.
• Bulk Solvent deliveries.
• Hazardous waste collection and shipments with all associated documenta
tion related to Hazardous Material management.
• Sending out cylinders for repair, de-chrome and re-chrome, and re-engraving.
• Annual Performance reviews of department co-workers
The role of this person is fully commitment to excellence in OHSE and Quality. The goal is to protect and promote the environment, health and safety of all co-workers and the community in which we operate. This position also is committed to quality through each employee, our system and in our processes and products.
Responsibilities:
• Following company policies and procedures. Coordinates all safety issues & behaviors with the Operations Manager, OHSE Manager and Plant General Manager.
• Manage direct reports work schedule and approve & submit payroll data for all direct reports, resource allocations to include training, production requirements, order routine supplies needed for the department. Initiate continuous improvement activities at the department level to improve products, processes, quality, efficiencies and costs.
• Manage the Ink, and Pre-Make departments by providing guidance and coaching to clearly define and communicate the customer’s expectations and promoting positive employee engagement.
• Prepare or assist with technical reports including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Environmental Monitoring Plans, Hazardous Waste Management Plans, Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control Plans.
• Conduct routine audits & inspections to ensure compliance with Operational & OHSE requirements.
• With limited supervision, ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental laws, rules, and regulations. I.E. Georgia State Environment Protection Division. U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
• Understands, supports, and trains co-workers to comply with OHSE obligations. Actively support the policies and guide the team in accordance with Amcor’s Critical, Key, and Environmental Risk standards. Assist and support the OHSE Manager in department OHSE policies.
• Understand and communicate ISO 14001 standards as it relates to the Ink, Pre-Make and Tooling Departments. Participates in continuous improvement efforts intended to add value and to promote customer satisfaction. Certified in RCRA & DOT HAZMAT requirements as well as proficiency in the EPA 40 CFR & DOT 49 CFR, all Georgia EPD regulations and successfully complete required annual training. Proficient in 5s Methodology and maintaining 5s standards at the department level.
• All other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
• 2 years of related college course work and or 10+ years of experience in the Printing Industry (Gravure press experience preferred)
• Inventory Management Experience
• Broad knowledge of inks, dyes, and color matching
• 5s Methodology proficiency
• Familiarity with federal regulations such as: EPA 40 CFR & DOT 49 CFR, as well as Georgia EPD regulations
• Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and DOT Hazmat certified
• ISO 14001 knowledge and training
• Strong background in Departmental Safety
• Functional knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
