About the Team and job role.

The aim of the Supported Living Service is to provide support for adults with learning disabilities and or autism who wish to live independently in the Bath and Northeast Somerset area.

Your main place of work will be in the community, working in service users homes. The Supported Living Service does have offices based at Carrswood Day Services in Twerton Bath and Connections Day Services in Writhlington Radstock.

We are looking for a support worker to be based in one of our Connections Location on a full-time basis on a permanent contract. This role is for 37 hrs hours per week (one post available) and involves a rota system which includes working every other weekend with some bank holidays for which enhancements are paid.

Service Objectives

To enable service users to live as independently as possible in their own homes.


To support service users to carry out everyday tasks involved in maintaining a tenancy and according to their preferred lifestyle.


If needed, to support service users with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner


To support service users to exercise as much choice as possible over all aspects of their daily life.


To enable service users to take part in their local community and make relationships with people within their community.


To support service users to be good citizens.


To safeguard and protect the rights of all service users in line with the requirements of the Human Rights Act.


To enable service users to express their opinions, wants and wishes and for them to be acted on as appropriate.


To ensure that the service is always person centred.


To provide appropriate information, advice and support to parents and carers as required.


To work alongside colleagues in other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for service users.


To maintain a well-trained workforce who can work together to meet the individual needs of the service users.


To work towards withdrawing support as service users gain confidence and learn new skills.


To be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the service users.


To conform to the requirements of Care Quality Commission and any other regulatory authorities who may be involved with the service.

Our day services support people who have Learning Disabilities and/or Autism with high levels of need. This is an opportunity to be part of a service which makes a real difference to the lives of those people and their families.

About the Role

Our support workers fulfil an essential role, planning and leading groups in our day services. Our groups and activities include music, sports, art, sensory stories, physiotherapy, tac-pac, rebound therapy, cooking, cycling, drama and more. We need people who are reliable, pro-active and passionate about giving the people we support the best experience possible when they come to our service.

Support workers are expected to act as keyworkers for a small number of people we support, contribute to reviews and other meetings and complete relevant documents as required. Support workers are also required to cover driving or escort duties when necessary to ensure the service runs effectively.

You can expect:

-A comprehensive induction

-A full training programme
-Specific vehicle competency checks and relevant training (where relevant for driving duties)

Your role

Making recommendations for minor and major home adaptations
Assessing for simple and specialised equipment to promote independence and safety at home.
Carrying out moving and handling risk assessments and promoting single handed care when possible
Performing postural management and seating assessments
Carrying out assessments for re-housing applications
Providing supervision for occupational therapy aides.
Supporting OT students/ OT apprentices
About You

You are an experienced occupational therapist with a minimum of 2 years working in Health or Adult Social Care, and with HCPC registration.

You have knowledge of the legislation that applies to social care practice.

You have strong communication skills and organisational skills.

Due to the nature of the role being a car driver is essential.

About The Role:

The primary purpose of these 2 posts is to provide administrative support services to the Head of Corporate Estate and the Head of Green Transformation, and to the wider management team of the respective Service as necessary.

Each role will contribute to developing administrative systems to support the needs of staff and will be responsible for the organisation, care and archiving of administrative records as well as providing administrative support to a variety of meetings.

Each role will assist in processing of invoices for charges and payments and initial onboarding of staff, and where appropriate provide supervision for, work experience placements, graduate apprentices, and temporary staff.

There is a lot of recruitment into our teams over the next year so you will assist in providing administrative support to recruitment exercises. For example, arranging interviews, booking rooms and liaising with interviewers and interviewees.

There will also be opportunities to provide Project Officer support for specific workstreams. With regards the Corporate Estates post your work will contribute towards a corporate landlord model, the council’s larger asset review programme and other small-scale projects. For the Green Transformation post there will be opportunities to contribute and lead on projects which will help us meet our climate and ecological emergency commitments.

About You:

You’ll have a minimum level of 5 GCSE passes with Maths and English and a demonstrable track record of success in administrative support and project support roles. You’ll be discreet and have good organisational skills as well as a collaborative approach. You will have good communication skills with ability to take the initiative and juggle competing demands on your time.
