Behavioral Crisis Center Technician

Saturday & Sunday Overnight (7pm-7am)

You will be working at the new Burrell Rapid Access Unit in Independence, Missouri, which provides the following community services:

• A 23-hour assessment, observation, stabilization, and treatment service for adults with an acute psychiatric and/or substance use disorder;
• 24/7 staffing by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, licensed mental health professionals, mental health technicians, peer support specialists, and support staff.
• Care coordination and integration with public health officials and health system partners for appropriate follow-up care in the community.

About the Behavioral Crisis Center Technician Role:

• Provide general direction for all clients. 
• Implement guidelines, procedures and program rules accurately and consistently.
• Provide direction to clients in maintaining their living and sleeping areas in a neat and sanitary manner.
• Encourage individuals to develop positive relationships within the program, with both staff and other clients.
• Provide supervision, as needed, during mealtime to ensure clients have a safe and sanitary eating area and meals are carried out in an orderly fashion.
• Complete appropriate paperwork for admissions, transfers and/or discharge.
• Responsible for documenting treatment plan interventions, participating in daily activities.
• Develop and write treatment plans.
• Monitor and/or facilitate group activities as designated by supervisor engaging with clients during group activities, and providing intervention as needed for clients to obtain maximum benefit from participation.
• Responsible for maintaining facility cleanliness by completing designated facility tasks.
• Observe, record and communicate clients’ behaviors, strengths, progress, areas of difficulty and needs in a timely manner, utilizing established mechanisms and program formats.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Preferred but not required- Experience and/or degree in Human Services field (Case Management, Social Work, Crisis Support, Substance Abuse Counselor, etc)

What you'll get to do:

• Track and communicate food, kitchen and utensil-related supply needs to the Facility/Program Manager, maintaining adequate supplies at all times.
• Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and consistent with USDA guidelines for serving size and nutritional content.  Note:  An alternative meal/dish offering may be required at times to meet resident dietary requirements or restrictions (e.g.; ill resident on a ‘bland’ diet).

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with primary care providers as a member of the medical team, providing routine consultation and conducting brief assessments and interventions for patients referred for same-day warm hand-offs and follow-up care.

• Utilize evidence-based interventions to promote positive health behaviors, assess safety, screen for behavioral health disorders, and address immediate psychological health needs.

• Provide clear and concise feedback to providers, establish action plans, and create follow-up plans.

• Support integrated patient care by working collaboratively with medical teams, offering education on behavioral health concerns, facilitating referrals to specialty mental health services as needed, and promoting positive working relationships between medical partners and Burrell Behavioral Health.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a Human Services field.

• Missouri licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Psychologist (PhD/PsyD/LP).

• Provisional licensure (PLPC, LMSW, or PLP) may be considered.

• Interest in and/or experience with brief interventions, team-based care, diverse populations, and a wide variety of psychiatric, substance abuse, and behavioral medicine problems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directly oversee and support CA Supervisors and their respective teams
• Collaborate with Supervisors to identify areas of opportunity in workflow, processes, and personnel
• Provide coaching and training to Supervisors and CARs
• Conduct yearly evaluations of direct reports and provide feedback
• Set obtainable team and supervisor goals and expectations
• Review the accuracy of CA Supervisors' timecards and time off requests
• Collaborate with SAD of Client Access on new process development
• Continuously review processes with all levels of Client Access management
• Represent Revenue Cycle and CA in a professional, collaborative, and relevant manner to support innovation
• Represent BBH in a professional, collaborative, and relevant manner to external vendors
• Develop, implement, and manage reports and audits related to client overall experience and accuracy
• Conduct onsite visits/observations biweekly or as needed
• Ensure Supervisors are conducting weekly onsite visits or as needed
• Provide documented feedback and communication with regards to staff development and coaching opportunities
• Provide documented feedback and communication to SAD and/or Director with regards to process changes, new or expiring programs, staff development and coaching opportunities, and concerns with day-to-day workflows

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
