The role of the Money Advice caseworker is to provide guidance and support to individuals regarding their debts and finances. The successful applicant will hold a caseload of individuals they are supporting, which may include providing budgeting guidance, benefits and income maximisation advice to improve their financial circumstances.

The successful application will also support the work of debt advisers, by preparing and collecting the necessary information and evidence required for formal debt advice, which may include applications for debt solutions such as a Debt Relief Order.

The role will be primarily based at our Head Office in Martlesham, but will require occasional travel throughout Suffolk and neighbouring regions to meet with individuals face-to-face or attend outreach events, so access to your own transport is important.

An ability to communicate and build working relationships with a range of individuals, partners and organisations is vital to this role. You will be in regular contact with both internal colleagues and external organisations to support an individual.

The primary purpose of the Supported Housing Officer role in this service is to work with homeless individuals and couples within a short-term accommodation residence in the Lowestoft area. You will work with those accommodated by the scheme, supporting them to make positive change and achieve independence. You will support the Service Users to gain life skills and meet their goal to move on to independent living.

You do this by working with them on their own individual support plan, with support for each individual between 5 and 7 hours per week. Support planning activities will include areas such as health, budgeting, training and employment.

This role covers the Lowestoft area and access to own transport is essential. The service will be operational between the hours of 9am and 8pm so some flexibility will be required.

The purpose of this role is to deliver advice, guidance and associated support following the guidelines of the ACT Money Advice Service and the successful applicant will display the skills and ability to manage and support a caseload, helping families and individuals to deal with their debt and welfare issues.

As well as assisting with issues as they arise, you will also be expected to help develop the financial capability of those we assist. Assisting with both the delivery and further development of the Money Advice Service are key aspects of the role.

Our operating model is one where we deliver our services on an outreach basis, working with people in a range of locations. Although based at our HQ, it is important that you have access to your own transport, as from time to time, you will have to travel throughout Suffolk and neighbouring areas.

Working with a wide range of agencies, including some directly involved in money advice/financial capability services, you will need to maintain current relationships and build new ones, so good communication skills are an essential part of the role.
