Job Details:
Job Summary: Performs most phases of assembly of various electrical, electronic and/or mechanical components and assemblies, working from blueprints, diagrams and verbal instructions. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Obtains prototype project/kit from lead person.
Reviews blueprints, diagrams, parts lists, schematics, engineering sketches, change notices and verbal instructions to determine method and sequence of assembly.
Suggests and assists in making design and planning changes.
Prepares parts and components for assembly.
Sets up project using jigs, fixtures and other aides.
Performs detailed assembly operations using soldering irons, cutters, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, microscopes, soldering pots and other hand tools.
Operates assembly equipment, machinery and pneumatic tools.
Examines workmanship and perform modifications or rework as required.
Assists and trains other Assemblers as directed.
May serve as department lead.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school education or equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of three years’ experience in mechanical/electrical assembly. Ability to independently perform all phases of electrical and mechanical assembly. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions including documents, schematics and engineering sketches. Proficient in the use of all assembly tools including soldering irons, cutters, pliers, wrenches, strippers and other hand tools. Experienced in training other Assemblers. Ability to understand and work with Material Safety Data Sheets. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Able to lift 50 pounds. Physical ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time.
Pay Range: $24 - $33/hr
