This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport (CHO), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting and supervising subordinate employees in conducting pre-board security screening of persons, their carry-on and checked baggage/cargo.
• Overseeing screening checkpoint(s) and/or baggage screening operations on a day-to-day basis to include equipment, personnel, and the scheduling and rotation of personnel.
• Participating in the development of new policies and procedures, and recommending changes in policy and procedures based on observation of work, as required.
• Participating in the development of strategic planning initiatives, workforce planning, succession planning initiatives, and other reports and documents for TSA and superiors.
• Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches.
• Preparing various types of communications such as morning briefings, checkpoint logs, reports, and documents that are germane to the work performed.
• Developing incident information and reports for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and superiors.
• Serving as a member of the National Screening Force.

As an Aircraft Electrician (Title 32), you will perform the below duties:

(l) Functionally tests, troubleshoots, inspects, adjusts, aligns, calibrates and repairs the entire range of aircraft electrical systems to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Repairs complex power control and warning systems such as, master control panels, analyzing units, master caution panels, voltage regulators, supervisory panels, AC/DC generators, starters, inverters, indicating instruments, linear actuators and utility system control units. Fabricates, repairs and replaces wiring harness, cannon plugs andconnectors. electric motors and modifications as directed by higher authority.
(2) Selects, operates. maintains and repairs specialized test equipment, measuring equipment and common shop equipment such as multimeters, vacuum tube voltmeters, tube testers, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, vary drives, magneto test stands, and electrical equipment test stands. Calibratesand adjusts amplifiers, control boxes, and other equipment that vary voltage,resistance. frequency and load for analyzing various characteristics of electricalshop and test equipment. Must maintain a working knowledge of electrical andmechanical principles as applies to avionics systems to include a workingknowledge of wiring diagrams. blueprints, technical publication and schematics.
(3) Selects. studies. utilizes and updates technical manuals, TWXs, newsletters, MWOs and files in support of functional area of responsibility. Assists with identification and requisition of tools, parts, equipment andbench stock required.
(4) Performs such travel as may be required in the accomplishment of assigned duties and the organizational mission.
(5) Performs on-the-job training as required. Evaluates training effectiveness.
(6) May assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire/crash/rescue duties as required.
(7) May assist in other functions within the component repair shop in the accomplishment of mission requirements.
(8) Performs other duties as required.

This Financial Specialist position is located Enterprise Support (ES), Operations Management (OM), Budget and Financial Operations Division (BFOD), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The incumbent of this position identifies and analyzes costs associated with acquisition plans, maintaining financial database and prepares cost projections and/or estimates with the program. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

• Develops budget and funding plans which allocates appropriate funds to activities based on an analysis of activity budget estimates, management resource needs, historical expenditures, initial operations, and approved funding.
• Working knowledge of the policies, precedents, goals, objectives, regulations, and guideline of financial areas such as financial oversight sufficient to analyze and evaluate continual changes in program plans and funding and their effect on financial and budget program milestones.
• Monitors and tracks the budget for projects to ensure funds are available and appropriately tracked; and initiates the obligation of funds and maintains the financial database. Advises management when potential funding shortfalls occur.
• Evaluates data submitted for consistency with previous estimates, revises data as necessary and interprets financial management data and draw conclusions.
