We are looking to appoint an inspirational, conscientious, committed Mathematics teacher to join our successful Mathematic Faculty.

The Mathematics Department at Drapers’ Academy is committed to raising the academic standards of all pupils and strives to ensure every pupil reaches their potential. Our vision for the Faculty is that our teaching instils a love of Mathematics and problem solving in every pupil, which supports them to be successful and independent adults.

Mathematics is a strong supportive faculty consisting of ten full-time members of staff with a wide range of experience. Teachers are able to teach across the key stages and training and support to be able to deliver to our A level students is provided. A level Maths is one of the most popular subjects here at Drapers’, a reflection of the confidence our students have in their teachers and their enjoyment of the subject.

Key Stage 3 pupils follow the White Rose scheme. Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils follow Edexcel’s schemes. Year 7 are taught in mixed attainment classes and pupils in all other year groups are taught in attainment sets. Pupils are offered 8 hours of teaching per fortnight in KS3 and KS4. All KS4 and KS5 pupils have access to their own Chromebooks. All KS3 and KS4 homework is set and marked automatically via Sparx Maths and other useful online tools. In KS5, we offer both A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics and our students have secured places in top universities such as Cambridge and Warwick.

The Faculty offers a variety of additional clubs, which pupils can attend, aimed at helping those in need of additional support and extending the more able. Our pupils also successfully participate in UKMT challenges.

Supporting and managing the Directorates risk management processes working alongside other Directorates and Divisions to ensure that completed incident investigations are of a high standard and are managed in a timely manner as required by the Trust. Identifying trends and working with modality teams to develop quality improvement processes to reduce risk and improve quality of care for patients. The post holder will also lead on the Directorate Audit Programme presenting this in a format that that meets QSI (Quality Standard for Imaging) standards, supporting Modality Teams with the development of KPIs (key performance indicators) to ensure that local processes are regularly audited to assess the quality of services. Working closely with the Research and Innovation (R&I) Department to assess feasibility of new trials ensuring all governance checks are complete before authorisation. To manage the research budget liaising with the Divisional Finance Department to ensure spend plans are produced and submitted in a timely manner each year. The science team comprises nine full-time and four part-time science specialist teachers with responsibility for teaching Years 7 to 13. The department is led by the Director of Science, assisted by the Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are 12 dedicated laboratories, 3 of which are part of a new build with an additional classroom space in the new block. The standard of equipment and resources is very high. All full-time members of the department have lessons timetabled in their own laboratory and work with a dedicated technician. There are five part-time technicians.

About the role

As a regional teacher you will be based for extended periods of time (1 term – 1 Academic Year) at one of our 8 Teesside Schools throughout the academic year, with the possibility of moving across schools in following terms/years, or work across multiple sites on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year.

Working with the departments of the schools you are based in, you will focus on supporting the department through providing a high-quality teaching experience to students, ensuring high standards through effective teaching and learning, including preparation, evaluation and action planning. You will become an integral part of the department you join, allowing you to experience working with various department teams as well as work in a cross-curricular way to support subject across the academy.

What we are looking for

As this role may require an individual to work across multiple academic teams throughout the academic year, we are looking for an individual that has the ability to hit the ground running, both in terms of relationship building with staff and students, as well as their ability to provide an affective teaching and learning experience.
