This cross-cover will ensure continued delivery of the portfolio of research studies delivery by Primary Care Sheffield Research Office. The post holder will work under internal policies and standard operating procedures. The role includes patient identification, consent, and research delivery, per research study-specific protocols at NHS primary care sites in Sheffield. They will liaise with external/partner organisations e.g. NIHR CRN, NHS trusts, Study Teams, Primary Care Networks, and GP practices. 3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST As a Research Nurse, your main duties will include: Planning and supporting study set up across various sites within Sheffield . You will be involved in screening, recruitment, monitoring and assessments of research subjects in accordance with local, national, and international protocols, policies, and procedures. Be responsible for the planning and implementation of protocols in accordance with research parameters as set out by the Chief and Principal Investigators. Establish appropriate data collection systems for patient data (including monitoring of data), in accordance with research protocols. This includes the creation and maintenance of databases for study progression. Maintain complete source documentation and Site Investigator's File for Chief and Principal Investigators and Regulatory Bodies. Meet regularly with the Research Team Members, including Lead Research Nurse, Clinical Lead and Chief Investigator for the duration of studies. In addition, the post holder may be required to attend ongoing presentations and lectures to maintain a knowledge base of developments within the field of the Studies. Collaborates with Investigators, Regulatory Bodies, and Ancillary departments. Monitor research subjects using excellent communication skills by telephone or face-to-face, keeping documented evidence and records of the intervention. Represent and promote the objectives of the research study to internal/external constituencies appropriately. Plan, organise, and complete complex clinical procedures (breathing assessment including spirometry) using efficient workflow schedules and maintain accurate documented records. Be responsible for explaining clinical aspects of the study to the patients and carers involved in the study on a one-to-one basis. Liaise with the GP Surgery staff, central research teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely arrangement of patient visits for both recruitment and follow-up. Maintain contact with participants during follow-up, including home visits where appropriate. Always remain professional and deal sensitively with participants and their carers. Providing regular feedback on the study progress and milestones to relevant stakeholders and work towards resolving any issues as they arise. Ensure that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is maintained appropriately at the coordinating centre and the GP practices. All appropriate paperwork to be forwarded to trial managers in a timely manner. Ensure that all research is ethical and carried out in accordance with regulatory guidance. Ensure compliance with the organisational and national policies and guidelines. Carry out any other research-related duties within the post holders qualifications and competence as delegated by the Lead Research Nurse, Clinical Lead, and the Trail Sponsors Willing to undertake any training as deemed necessary. To maintain accurate records in line with professional guidelines and local policy using paper-based and electronic systems. Ensure that monitoring and investigations required for the study are carried out within the time schedules documented and be able to work to tight deadlines with restricted time constraints. This may involve taking blood samples, swabs, giving injections, and other clinical procedures, including spirometry. Be able to propose and implement changes within your own area of practice and represent the research team or service. To interpret medical records to judge whether a patient is suitable for a particular study. To provide evidence of recent interest/experience in research and Continuing Professional Development. The nature of the work is unpredictable, and the post holder will be expected to be flexible and responsive to deal with various aspects of the job at short notice. The Co-Centre research is structured as Platforms, demonstrator projects and spokes which include targeted projects which are funded wholly or in part by industry. A platform dedicated to Nutrition and Health will provide evidence-based data to encourage the development, acceptance, and uptake of healthy diets from sustainable sources (HDSS) across all population groups.

This role will support Professor Louise Dye to conduct a programme of research within this platform which seeks to understand and ensure equitable access to breakfast provision and intake in children and adolescents across the Island of Ireland. This research will support the transition to HDSS and address micronutrient deficiencies.

This EPSRC-NSF funded project is a collaboration between the Universities of Bristol, Notre Dame and Sheffield. It aims to investigate proof-of-concept techniques for the design of contiguous mode power amplifiers with high linearity and efficiency suitable at up to 40 GHz and above. The work at Sheffield is to focus on extraction of large signal models at up to second harmonic frequency and design harmonic terminations for broadband amplifiers.

This role requires expertise in RF Power Amplifier/MMIC design, modelling using ADS/EM simulations, large signal modelling, high frequency characterisation and parasitic network extraction, prototyping including layout and testing, including the reliability at the amplifier level. The Research Associate will be expected to travel to partner organisations as necessary. They will be required to be involved in other projects involving design/ communications in the team and publish in top quality journals, consistent with the quality and ambition of the department.

This project is located in the Departments of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. The Department is organised into three research areas: Semiconductor Materials and Devices, Communications, and Electrical Machines and Drives. The Communications activities have highly specialist strengths in cellular mobile wireless technologies and systems, antennas, RF Power amplifiers, FSS, smart/reconfigurable electromagnetic materials, physical layer design, RF circuit and system design, radio resource management, wireless network planning and the development of innovative RF measurement and diagnostic techniques. The facilities include two anechoic chambers and a newly established mm-wave test facility that contains a Keysight 4 port VNA (N5245B – 10MHz to 50GHz, NSI-MI Antenna Measurement System (700S-360) and an MPI TS150-THz wafer probe station and thermal chuck.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate to develop cutting-edge sensor systems by working closely with Airbus UK to support their vision for Landing Gear of Tomorrow. This is a computer vision systems research role in our aerospace control and monitoring research centre, where you will develop algorithms that deliver novel functionality into Industry and new methods to academia.

During the 18-month post in The University of Sheffield, you will be responsible for the development of machine vision algorithms for challenging environments (vibration, fog, icing, etc.). The system will extract disturbance invariant (intrinsic) properties from landing gear test facilities housed at Sheffield and Airbus. The properties are extracted from the camera's data stream to determine the landing gear operating and health state.
You will develop novel algorithms that can work despite the arduous operating conditions and prove their effectiveness by augmenting an existing test dataset with an appropriate mix of physical experiments and synthetic image generative modelling. The planned outcomes are the deployment of the solution of full-scale industrial rigs, leading to future flight trials, and publication to leading sensor and computer vision conferences and journals.
A successful candidate will be able to take a systems approach to solve the technical challenges of working with sensor systems in extreme aerospace environments. You will make quantitative trade-offs between complexity, performance and risk in order to inform and convince industrial stakeholders of the merits of your solution. Your solution will require knowledge of fundamental methodologies for advanced vision processing, including but not limited to diffusion models and deep neural networks, along with experience of implementing machine learning and signal processing for embedded vision systems. We anticipate that this novel problem setting and broad approach will provide the foundation for you to deliver novel research into world class journals and conferences.
