More detail about the role: This post is funded by the UK Kidney Association (UKKA) and is a National initiative with posts in Manchester, Newcastle, London, Birmingham and here in Exeter. The post holder will be based here in Exeter but be expected to travel to Plymouth and Truro to work with the renal clinical teams there. The UKKA is the leading professional body for the UK renal community, improving lives by supporting professionals in the delivery of kidney care and research. They welcome members working in clinical renal care, treating and caring for people with kidney disease, and those working in research, or related sciences and fields. The UK Renal Registry is the part of the UKKA responsible for the collection, analysis, management and development of a high quality clinical renal database. They use data submitted from the 71 adult and 13 paediatric renal centres across the country to create the database. The information, in the form of data and reports, is a shared resource used to develop research into kidney disease to improve the quality of care for renal patients. Main duties 1. Work with key stakeholders, both internal UKKA colleagues and across the participating Kidney Centres (or the relevant assigned Centre), to build an early understanding of the relevant rare disease datasets held in the RaDaR registry and the C3G and IC-MPGN study. 2. Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders in each assigned Centre, liaising with key contacts to develop an agreed plan for relevant medical records (patients notes and electronic information) and biopsy reports to be accessed. 3. Work with the RaDaR senior data manager to conduct audits of the data, for relevant rare disease groups in each assigned Centre, to establish data gaps and inaccuracies. 4. Conduct on-site visits at relevant Centres, liaising with key contacts to identify priority data items on which to focus enrichment activities. 5. Liaise with UK Renal Registry contacts, particularly the RaDaR senior data manager, to access data completeness reports and updates, and guidance on where to find the data items. 6. Consult this report together with local records (patient notes and other data sources, which will vary depending on the Centre); cross-reference against data held in the RaDaR registry. 7. Where there are inaccuracies or gaps in completeness, manually add, transcribe and enrich the data. 8. Conduct subsequent audits in conjunction with the RaDaR senior data manager to establish and ensure improvements in data quality. 9. Provide regular reports and updates to the senior project manager, Rare Disease Groups and to RaDaR Chairs. About you We are looking for someone with a flexible and highly motivated attitude who is able to use their initiative and be innovative. You need to have an interest and understanding of data and renal terminology. You must have proven IT skills and be competent in data management. This role requires the ability to work autonomously, prioritise a workload and deliver to deadlines. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, some UK travel may be required together with overnight stays.
