Your new school
Hays are working with a secondary school in Cardiff with over 900 pupils to find a Science teacher. The school set high standards with excellent facilities to encourage the pupils to thrive and achieve their best. Your new role
Starting ASAP, you will be a key part of the dedicated Science department responsible for teaching a timetable of KS3 and KS4 Science lessons to a variety of students of different learning abilities.
Your role will include full teaching responsibilities including staff meetings, parent's evenings, pastoral responsibilities, planning and preparation of lessons along with marking and assessment. This is your chance to put your mark on a school and implement success through your teaching.



What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified teacher registered with the Education Workforce Council. You will have previous experience in delivering Science lessons within a secondary school and hold a QTS – NQT's encouraged to apply.
You will have a passion for development and a track record in helping pupils to achieve strong results. You will have a strong classroom presence with good behavioural and classroom management skills.

We are looking to recruit a Science Technician to help support our successful and enthusiastic Science Department. The main duties will include:
• To be an effective member of a busy technician team.
• To prepare and clear away practical materials from lessons. In the first instance this could include activities such as delivering equipment to rooms, setting up apparatus, washing up and delivering books and resources. As experience develops this could involve making solutions, taking care of laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• To monitor the return and safe storage of equipment and materials on a daily basis in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
• To maintain equipment in a serviceable condition, undertaking minor repairs (where suitably trained) and recommending outside repair or replacement where necessary.
• To assist the Department in any further reasonable matters.
The person appointed will join one other in the technical team in the science department which is housed in a modern block of twelve laboratories. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post. Salary : Grade 3 (pro rata). Further details can be obtained by contacting the Head Teacher, Mr Matthew Evans at the school.
