Role and Responsibilities

Summary

The Co-Op student will provide technical support to senior level engineers in design, test, documentation, and implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks including writing and testing software, creating software tools, updating drawings and documentation
• Gather data and prepare reports as necessary
• Provide administrative and technical support to Engineering department
• Assist other departments, when needed

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree (or higher level) college/university program in majoring in Engineering, preferably Software Engineering  or  Computer Science
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• The skillsets required for this role will vary based on what systems you are working on. To be considered, you should have knowledge and experience in 1 or more of the following categories:
  • Frontend development (Angular, React, Vue, Typescript, etc.)
  • Backend development (C#, .NET, C++, Python, Node, etc.)
  • Data storage and messaging (PostgreSQL, Neo4J, RabbitMq, Kafka, WebSockets, etc.)
  • DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, OpenShift, Jenkins, Terraform, GitLab Runner, etc.)
  • Cloud Systems (Azure, GCP, AWS)
• Must be willing to learn new procedures and applications
• Must have good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

Key Role:

Work closely with a variety of clients to capture and document information requirements, formulate data collection plans, and implement normalization processes. Interpret results independently using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex data analysis. Leidos Innovations Center is looking for a principal research scientist in the areas of formal methods and cyber-physical systems (CPS) who has a proven track record in developing state-of-the-art automated reasoning technologies that enable production of high-assurance software and software-intensive systems.

Primary Responsibilities

The principal research scientist will serve in the role of principal investigator on contract R&D and internal R&D programs, engaging R&D customers and transition partners to develop new business opportunities and leading teams of researchers and engineers in the development, adaptation, and extension of innovative approaches and solutions in automated reasoning applied research. The focus of this research is the generation of assurance evidence for critical software, at scale.

The innovative technical solutions will advance the state of the art while addressing long-term problems of importance to national security.  As such, candidates should have successful, proven, and demonstrable experience leading proposals and winning competitive research and development efforts, and then leading high-performing teams in the development and integration of software-based solutions for customers such as DARPA and other branches of the Department of Defense

Basic Qualifications

• M.S or Ph.D. (preferred) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.
• At least 10 years with M.S or 8 years with Ph.D. of industrial/academic experience advancing the state of the art in formal verification, developing technologies such as program analysis, constraint-solving, symbolic execution, or theorem proving.
• At least 4 years of experience with programming languages such as Java, Scala, C/C++, Ruby, Rust, or Python
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience:

The Leidos Innovation Center (LInC) Advanced Analytics team is seeking qualified applicants for multiple Research Scientist openings. We are looking Research Scientists with a background in quantum technologies / quantum information science, specifically with focuses on quantum optics and communications. While experience with quantum computing hardware or algorithms can be beneficial, this is NOT a position for quantum computing efforts or interests.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to help grow the Leidos quantum technologies portfolio of contract and internal R&D projects, benchmarking, and operational prototypes, geared towards quantum communications and sensing.  In this position, the Research Scientist will participate in the full life cycle of research & development of optical systems for the study of quantum-enabled remote sensing and communications. Ideal candidates should be interested in a career devoted to applied research and development with strong experimental, hardware skills and should be interested in maturing technologies from concept to prototype.

• Design, build, perform tests, and analyze optics/optoelectronics/photonics experiments in various systems and platforms for cutting edge devices in quantum communication, sensing, and precision positioning, navigation, and timing
• Perform laboratory and field tests to prove and validate quantum experimental theories as viable products in applicable domains, and benchmark results within the field
• Write proposals, publish papers, attend and present at conferences, and brief internal leadership and external customers
• Collaborate with other team members, engineers, and scientists across the company and different fields to leverage quantum technologies to achieve organizational goals
