The University of South Wales, a member of the Teaching Excellence Alliance, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the Forensic Sciences. Working as a member of the dynamic Biological and Forensic Sciences team, you will be part of the larger Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science.



This exciting opportunity is a full-time, permanent position and is based at the Glyntaff campus in Pontypridd.



The successful candidate will be expected to make a key contribution to the design and delivery of the wide educational portfolio which will focus upon teaching, assessment, and knowledge exchange activities for the forensic science subject area. This role requires an educator who will inspire student engagement and improve student outcomes and experience.



As a new member of an expanding team, you will be expected to manage and deliver modules from our undergraduate and postgraduate forensic science and forensic investigation curriculum. You will also be required to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and expand your own research portfolio.



Candidates selected for this position should possess knowledge and expertise in essential forensic science disciplines to enhance and support the forensic science curriculum at USW. The primary focus of this role involves trace evidence, laboratory methods, and analysis utilising a wide array of instruments to support the diverse forensic portfolio at USW. The Governors of Aberdare Community School are seeking to appoint a dedicated and hardworking technician to join the Design Technology department to support the teaching of materials and engineering technology.
This post represents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a thriving department and to work with a very supportive team, housed in exceptional, state of the art facilities. The role of technician is vital to supporting the learners by setting up classrooms prior to lessons, and where required assist learners during lessons to enable them to make progress safely.
The department is extremely keen to provide learners with as many practical opportunities as possible and as such the successful candidate will be required to prepare wood, metals, plastics, and other resources as required for learners to work with.
There will be a requirement to carry out daily, weekly and monthly checks on a wide range of equipment from handheld tools, to state of the art laser cutters and milling machines. This will be a very hands-on role where training will be provided if required.

During school holidays as well as preparing DT resources for the following year you will assist with the site team and their workload dealing with various contractors servicing equipment on site.
The post comes with an annual holiday entitlement of 25 - 31 days per year which depends on length of service + bank holidays. Due to the nature of the role holidays would need to be taken outside of term time.The school opened in the summer of 2015 and is part of the 21st Century school building programme. The school is attached to the Sobell Leisure Centre which offers extensive opportunities for pupils, including an all-weather playing facility and newly opened athletics stadium.
