The role
As a Business Architect, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary, working with customers across the defence sector and the naval marine domain in particular.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for the development of architectural artefacts/deliverables and act in a consultative capacity supporting the customer on a range of delivery/transformation programmes.
- Contribution to the selection/definition of context-appropriate architectural meta-models including industry standard (e.g. Archimate), extended/adapted and bespoke.
- Analysis of current and future business (process and organisation), information and applications to create associated architectural models and viewpoints. This will involve bottom-up analysis of physical artefacts (e.g. database schema) and review of documentation (e.g. quality management systems, specifications, etc.) supported by interviews and workshops with subject matter experts.
- Development of 'as-is' and 'to-be' architectures to support assessment of solution options and transformation programme/portfolio management.
- Liaison with internal and customer leadership in a consultative capacity to assist in development and communication of transformation strategy.
- Application of systems thinking and architectural principles to support project teams with development of user requirements, system requirements and solution specifications including high level designs and functional specifications etc.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Business Architect
- Excellent communication skills, able to distil and convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Able to guide and influence customer understanding and thinking.
- Significant practical experience of the application of model driven architecture (framework agnostic) in support of business transformation.
- Able to guide and lead less experienced team members in model driven architecture.
- Domain experience in engineering and asset management preferably the context of any of naval marine, defence equipment and support and nuclear (defence and civil).
- Must be a professional, self-starter able to take responsibility for their own work without reliance on direct guidance and close supervision.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
