Firwood High School is a successful 11-19 special school meeting the needs of children with severe and complex learning difficulties. We are a growing school, with 230 children currently on roll. We are part of Woodbridge Trust and work closely with Ladywood Primary Special School, Woodbridge SEND Services and Woodbridge College, our Post 19 provision.

We are currently seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced School Business Manager to join our team. You will play an integral role in supporting the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team to strategically lead and manage the school.

The successful candidate will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school’s financial, administrative, personnel, premises, health & safety, business, IT and support services, alongside day-to day operational aspects. They will work closely with the Head of School to identify priorities and contribute to strategic planning in-line with the school’s strategic plans.

The successful candidate will have:
Experience of managing and setting budgets and financial reporting systems in school
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
HR knowledge and experience, including managing absence and line management responsibilities
The ability to manage and support staff, establishing positive working relationships

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Corporate HR, this post will be key in delivering our People Plan priorities, taking responsibility for a number of significant work streams including:
Lead initiatives which develop and embed our people priorities: recruitment and retention, cost of living, development, digital/data and hybrid working

Main Duties:

• To develop and actively support internal and external marketing and communication within the Trust and its Schools, and to raise The Bishop Fraser Trust profile with staff, pupils, other stakeholders and public audiences.
• To play an important role in building and sustaining a coherent identity for the Trust and its Schools, communicating our stories and successes to various audiences across a wide variety of media and social media platforms.
• To help achieve this you will manage relationships with key suppliers, including designers, printers and web developers, to ensure value for money and the highest of standards are met.

• Enjoys working as part of a team and being able to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff.
• Is confident in liaising with a variety of staff at all levels.
• Has excellent customer service skills.
• Demonstrates personal resilience and role models those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people.
• Has the ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role.
• Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to form positive, professional and empathetic relationships with colleagues and students.
