Position Summary:
Assigned a mentor who will direct their summer work experience. Work assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences. Typical roles our Mold Repair interns experience will include Mold Repair Technicians and Department Mold Technicians with exposure to mold maintenance and repair, and setting/pulling molds in production. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read, write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide support in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment
Troubleshooting/Root Cause analysis
Work with a mentor on assignments which are commensurate with academic background
Work with a mentor on assignments outside of classroom curriculum to gain experience
Apply classroom knowledge to real life applications while using technical expertise
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business
Education:
HS Diploma/GED - Required
Currently pursuing an AS Degree in Machining Technology, Mold Making, or other related technical degree - Required
Experience:
18 years of age or older
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Possess or currently pursuing a degree in Machining Technology, Mold Making, or other related technical degree
Available to work a minimum of eight continuous weeks
Must be willing to work in any of our Columbus manufacturing locations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic machining skills (Mills, Lathes, Grinders)
Be able to read micrometers, calipers, and indicators
Be able to read and understand technical drawings
Basic understanding of molding, mold design, material flow and mold steels and their applications
PCP Level: 3
