What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Business Studies Teacher to join our outstanding teaching team. This post presents a good opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified practitioner to join the successful and friendly Computing & Business faculty.You will need to demonstrate your commitment to the teaching of KS4 & KS5 Business Studies. We require practitioners who have the enthusiasm, skill and ability to make a positive contribution to this motivated team. Ideally, applicants should have experience of teaching KS5 courses. You will be a part of a forward-thinking, collaborative and supportive department that values innovation in teaching and a commitment to student success. You will need to demonstrate commitment to excellent teaching and learning; to securing good or better outcomes for students; to developing student potential and to promoting the study of the subject in the 6th form. Those expecting to be paid at the upper end of the given pay range will need to evidence how that is merited in their application.
We offer a large range of courses including A Level Economics, A level and L3 BTEC Business, GCSE Business and BTEC Enterprise. We have one class of each KS5 course which have good results that allow students to go on to secure places on Business and Economics degrees. GCSE Business Studies & BTEC Enterprise are also extremely popular, and we have 1 or 2 classes in year 10 and 11 each year. Many students then go on to study Business at KS5.
We are ideally looking for a part time teacher working 0.6 but would welcome applications from those wishing to 0.8 or 1.0, especially where there is the ability to teach another subject.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver high-quality Business Study lessons to students in KS4 and KS5, adhering to the national curriculum.
• The ability to teach A Level Economics would be beneficial but is not a requirement.
• Inspire students to engage deeply with literature, writing, and critical thinking.
• Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to help them achieve their personal and academic goals.
• Foster a classroom environment based on mutual respect, inclusivity, and a love of learning.
• Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives to promote literacy and student development.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school community through extracurricular activities or pastoral support.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Strong subject knowledge of Business, with the ability to teach up to A level.
• A passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to student progress and achievement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding and appreciation of the school’s Christian ethos and values.
