The post holder will provide clinical leadership and support in all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to Trust staff, with the assistance of the IPC Nurse Consultant and the team.

They will manage the IPC workload with the Infection Control Nursing team and will be accountable for the daily operational management of the team, as well as for developing the infection control service. This includes ensuring that infection prevention and control policies are current and followed by closely collaborating with staff, demonstrating best practices, offering education and training, conducting mandatory surveillance, and overseeing relevant projects.

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our Essentia Executive team and drive the Trust’s strategic ambitions in South East London. This pivotal role is responsible for providing leadership in delivering the Trust’s capital development plans, compliance and assurance functions, property investments, and space management strategy. The IG Managerfor Research and Compliance willsupport colleagues at all levels tofacilitatechange as part of the Trust’s ambition to use data efficientlyand effectively supporting strategicinnovationtodeliverclinicaltransformationin the short,mediumand long terms. Workingwithpartnersinthe UKand beyond, the post holder will be supported to develop in role and contribute to wider developments at Trust and in collaboration with providersand other stakeholdersin the care system. The IG team is based at CityRoad, butwill move to the St Pancras site in time.

• Coordinate and manage IG operations in support ofresearch,keeping the Head of IG, the DirectorforResearch,and the Chief Operating Officer for INSIGHT apprised ofoutcomesand escalating issues asappropriate.
• Provide expert and specialist IG advice andexpertiseon health research and related data access initiatives, developing high-quality,user-friendlyandaccurateguidance in a range of formats.
• Provideexpertiseand advice on research management and proposals (grant applications), including research ethics and data sharing/licensing and/or service agreements involving personal data,liaisingwith the Head of IG and Moorfields General Counsel whereappropriate.
• Manageinformation assetaccessionand informationsecurity reviews relating toresearch proposals, including Informationriskassessments,dataprotectionimpactassessments for new and existing research systems/processes/projects involving processing of data, ensuring that proposals are compliant and in the required format forapproval.
• Ensureresearch relatedpolicies, procedures and guidelines are compliant withdataprotection legislation andare implementedeffectivelyand efficientlyacross theresearch function.
• Assess and report on the discharge ofproceduresandprocessestoidentifygaps in current practice, and whererequiredmake recommendations.
• Work with themanagers andprincipleinvestigatorsto ensure the maintenance oftheir entries to theinformationasset register.
• Develop and providetailoredIG training and guidance forresearch colleagues.
• Investigate and report on IG complaints and incidents in line with Trust policy asrequired, particularly where theyare linkedto research.


• Coordinate, develop and reviewappropriate information-sharingprotocols that provide clarity of purpose and enable streamlining of information disclosure routes.
• Ensure theTrust iscompliant with legislative requirement for data sharing or licensing.
• Supportresearch leadershipwith the production of IG related data and reports, including for Moorfields Research Management Committee, Research Governance Committee, and for HDRUK purposes.
• Provide input to the Trust’s IG and corporate risk registers and reporting requirements.
• Manage the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)activity, including the collation and provision of evidence, and coordination of returns.
• Assist with DPA requests relating to research (including requests that overlap between the DPA and theFoIA) and respond to DPA complaints where necessary.
• Toassistthe Head of IG with IG Departmental work planning.This includes planning and coordinating specialist project advice and technical support,planningand coordinating specialist advice and guidance.
• There is an expectation that the postholder maybe responsible forcontractors/consultants hired to undertake a discrete piece of service work, and/or agency temporary staff.
• Monitor andsupport internal and managementauditof researchprocesses toidentifyIGgaps or weaknesses in current practices or systems.Ensure all recommendationsare implementedto deliver an improvement intheresearch functiondelivery.
• Provide leadership for, andtheIG elementofresearch governancegroups, ensuring terms of references are up to date and aligned with other governance structures at the Trust
• Manage,supportand developtheInformation Compliance Officer.
• AttendexternalInformation Governance andResearchForums to develop strong and productive relationships with Information Governance leads in other NHS organisations and with wider stakeholders and to help influence the national policy agenda on Information Governance.
