An exciting opportunity has arisen within Blood Sciences, for a suitably qualified Senior Biomedical Scientist (Quality and Training Supervisor). We are looking for a Senior BMS with experience in Biochemistry in particular Quality and Training to join our team. The preference is for someone who has a very good understanding of Biochemistry but all Blood Sciences specialities will be considered.

Responsible for supervising compliance to relevant statutory regulatory standards to meet accreditation requirements. To maintain the quality monitoring system to audit compliance of the Pathology Quality Management System and facilitate the development of assigned staff group through the various levels of training pertinent to their role. Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. Pathology at BHRUT is a UKAS accredited to ISO15189 laboratory and an approved IBMS training laboratory across different disciplines.

The Biochemistry Department is currently managed across laboratories based at Queens Hospital Romford and King George Hospital Goodmayes. All staff are expected to be able to work on either site as required; this post will be expected to cover the training and quality requirements at both sites. The department of Biochemistry which is part of Blood Sciences plays a pivotal role in the provision of 26 million diagnostic tests annually for the Trust and primary care services.

The department at QH is equipped with Roche Cobas 8100 automated workflow series, Cobas 8000 analysers (c702/ e801) and COBAS Pure analyser in the Hot Lab.

At KGH it is also equipped with Roche Cobas analysers (c702/e801), Roche P612 pre-analytic, Sebia Capillaries Electrophoresis analysers, Phadia 250 analysers for RAST testing, Binding Site Optilite for Serum Free Light Chain assays.

The Prenatal Screening Department based at King George Hospital provides a high-quality screening service for chromosomal disorders, such as Down's syndrome, to antenatal patients at the Trust and to a number of antenatal centres in London and the Southeast.

We operate a 24/7 service on both sites. The Trust is currently exploring an alternative system to accommodate the increasing demand for routine 24/7 testing.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week. A flexible attitude to working hours is essential. The hours are currently within a framework of 08.00–20.00 including weekend & Bank Holiday working. These arrangements are subject to continuing review.

We're looking for an Asbestos Compliance Coordinator to join our Compliance team and help us make sure that our Co-op is fully compliant with asbestos regulations. Reporting to the Daywork Support Engineers, you will be part of a team of Maintenance Technicians responsible for maintaining Control & Instrumentation plant and equipment to high standards and best practice to ensure the plant availability and reliability is maximised. We are exploring options to decarbonise our energy generation at Medway through emerging CCS and hydrogen solutions to ensure the site can continue to provide essential flexible power in line with our net-zero goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Delivering quality maintenance of plant and equipment to minimise repeat defects and maximise availability and reliability throughout the station.

- Maintain high standards of safety within the Maintenance department and contractors employed by them and work within the requirements of the company's safety rules.

- Ensuring that key control & instrumentation plant areas are maintained as defined by the planned maintenance strategy to highest standards using best practice.

- Supervising and hosting contractors as required.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Controls/Process Apprenticeship, C&G's, ONC/HNC level in Control and Instrumentation / Process Controls, candidates with equivalent industry experience will be considered.

- Knowledge of maintenance practices on industrial plant.

- Knowledge of control and instrumentation equipment such as: Process measurement instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, PH etc.), pneumatic control valves and equipment, CompEx and SIL systems, PLCs, distributed control (DCS) and industrial network communications.

- A broad understanding of Health and Safety, a certificate in IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will perform quality review to ensure documents authored by the Safety Surveillance and Aggregate Reports team or their vendors are of high quality and support process improvement.

This is a contract position offered initially on a 12 month contract basis working 37.5 hours a week Mon-Fri.

Responsibilities:

• Perform QC Review of documents.
• Verify data in assigned documents against source documentation, including checking text against database outputs.
• Perform editorial and technical review for grammatical and stylistic consistency in line with the Style Guide and document templates. This includes reviewing format, internal linking, and external cross-referencing.
• Document QC findings so that appropriate actions can be taken by authors. Where needed, meet with the author to discuss findings and strategize the next steps (in case the error lies within the source document), including support with the development of preferred text.
• Document QC metrics for quality tracking.
• Review vendor authoring and QC as part of oversight activities.
• Support the creation of training material for new staff members and vendors on quality requirements.
• Support the preparation of aggregate report quality trends for discussion at regular team meetings.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of training materials and Job Aids.
• Assist with maintenance of SSA templates.
• Assist with SSA process improvement initiatives for quality documentation and technical tools/systems, including developing new templates.

Experience and skills:

• Advanced degree (PhD, MPH, NP, PharmD, etc.) preferred.
• Previous writing and editing experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Comfortable with medical concepts and terminology; familiar with the American Medical Association (AMA) Manual of Style.
• Familiar with pharmacovigilance and drug development, including knowledge of applicable clinical trial safety regulations and postmarketing safety regulations. Includes familiarity with case processing, expedited reporting rules, and safety database concepts.
• Ability to understand, interpret, analyse, and clearly present scientific and medical data in verbal and written format.
• Ability to interact collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
• Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise independently.

We're looking for an Assurance Manager to join our Strategy, Performance and Governance team. This is a UK remote first role, with an option to work from our Manchester office for those who want to.
