This is a new and exciting role reporting into the Head of Safety working nationally across the Booker Group.
In this role you will provide strategic direction to the business in the areas of food and health and safety compliance. You will lead the Food & Safety Compliance teams in the delivery of competent advice to enable the company to meet relevant legal requirements; drive improvements in standards; mitigate risk; and promote a positive safety culture.
You will support the senior leadership team in setting companywide objectives and play an important role in the governance and monitoring of safety, providing accurate updates on performance.
The role spans all parts of the Booker Group, and you will have responsibility through your teams to continuously review standards by analysing data and reviewing the outputs from third parties.
You will work closely with Tesco Group Safety teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Booker policies and procedures and to ensure compliance with Group Safety Standards, helping to make sure “Everyone, Every Day, Home Safely” is achieved.
By providing leadership and team management to the Food and Safety teams across the Booker Group you will help to develop and review training, policies and procedures that equip sites with the tools that they need to achieve compliance and drive standards.
You will take the lead in dealing with relevant enforcement activities and challenges as well as dealing with outputs of third party suppliers, including audits, pest management and fire risk assessment
Through Business Partnering senior leaders across the Group you will agree and set objectives which deliver quantifiable improvements on the areas under your remit while overseeing the continuous review of policies and procedures against Tesco Group Safety Blueprint and Safety Standards.
Through the teams that you manage, you will ensure that the business is informed of and prepares for forthcoming changes in legislation or best practice which will have an impact.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in managing teams and Business Partnering across a wide network and with your experience from previous roles with health and safety responsibilities be able to build strong relationships to effectively collaborate, influence and deliver through others.
In the role you will be able to develop strategy and objective setting, driving continuous improvement. With the ability to think on your feet and make informed decisions at short notice you will be self-motivated and be able to organise your own work schedule to deliver on time.
Good written and verbal communication skills are key to the role and you will possess a NEBOSH level 7 qualification or equivalent as well as Food Safety Level 4.
It is a National role that will require plenty of travelling and we will provide a car allowance or travel allowance.
