The Opportunity:

The Inventory Technician is responsible for tasks in inventory management (consumables, chemicals, samples, etc.) and accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting. The position also performs inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting, and provides daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management.

General Summary
RM Warehouse Lead is responsible for providing value to customer. This is accomplished by planning and administering dock/kitting assignments. Responsible for overseeing the efficient and organized management of raw materials within the warehouse. This role involves supervising a team, coordinating inventory activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing processes to meet production demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:
             

Operations

1. Supervise and lead a team of warehouse personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a cohesive and productive working environment. Develop and implement Kitting work schedules and assignments to assure effective and efficient operation.  Review warehouse operations to ensure the warehouse is neat, secure, and well organized; and that damage to the product, equipment, and the facility is prevented and/or reported.  Ensure that all safety procedures are followed.  Assist in conducting physical inventories.  Work directly with the supervisor to ensure that daily operations are being carried out properly and that resources are allocated properly. 

2. Reporting/Measurements

Ensure all warehouse activity records are prepared in a timely manner and efficiently maintained.  Review operating goals and standards daily to monitor achievement.

Quality

3. Responsible for making recommendations to the management regarding continuous improvement of department work processes and operating procedures.  Participate in High Performance Work Teams. Implement measures to prevent damage, spoilage, or contamination of raw materials.  Participate in the Lean program.

4. Process Optimization

Process Optimization: Find opportunities to improve warehouse processes, streamline workflows, and enhance overall efficiency. Implement standard methodologies and meet requirements and reduce lead time.

5. Inventory Management

The Lead must assist Inventory Control to ensure accurate inventory. Must maintain and update inventory records, perform all daily activities vital to maintain effective inventory management procedures.  Communicate any inventory discrepancies that cannot be resolved to Inventory Control for further investigation.

6. Safety/Sanitation/Housekeeping

Lean manufacturing processes including 5S must be followed at all times. Keep warehouse and work area clean, neat and orderly.  Recognize our customer and BD’s commitment to pride and Quality.  Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and conduct all activities in a manner that promotes a safe environment.  All injuries and accidents must be reported immediately to a supervisor or manager.

7. Cross Training

Become knowledgeable with responsibilities of the other positions as advised by management.  Assist as required.  Act as backup at times of absence or vacation.

          

Miscellaneous / Other:

Facilitate effective communication within the warehouse team and cross-functional departments. Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to meet supply chain demands.

Education/ and or Experience:

• High School diploma/ GED or at least 2 years warehouse experience

• Forklift experience (required)

• SAP Knowledge

• Previous experience in a warehouse leadership role, preferably in a raw material setting. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse operations.

This position is responsible for the movement of products in and out of the Sterilization facilities, moving products via forklift and lift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Loads outbound trailers

• Verification of products, lots and quantities via a sterilization control document

• The routing of products/pallets to the designated areas

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Transports finished products from manufacturing to pre-sterile or shipping areas.

• Determines raw material requirements, retrieves materials from the correct location, completes the appropriate issuing transactions and delivers to Manufacturing.

What we’re looking for 

• Education: High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in Logistics/ chemical inventory management is desirable

• Experience: 1-2 years of procurement, lab exposure, order management,/or business experience preferred.

• Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred 

• Possess knowledge and familiarity with various chemicals used in the laboratory.

• Maintain reliable transportation and hold a valid driver's license.

• Ability to travel up to 20%, with the farthest location within 35 miles.

• Capable of repetitively lifting weights ranging from 25 to 30 lbs.

How you will thrive and create an impact 

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

• Receive hazardous chemicals requested by global staff, including tasks such as identifying, renaming, and barcoding before inventory placement.

• Utilize the inventory management system to dispense/deliver chemicals from containers to researchers or requesters.

• Receive chemical orders from chemistry personnel, ensuring accuracy, registration into the inventory database, assignment to users, and return to the loading dock.

• Enhance container descriptions during registration, including GHS hazard classifications, regulatory lists, concentration, mixture, etc.

• Segregate incoming chemicals and those returned by scientists in the stockroom by hazard class, DOT requirements, etc.

• Travel to additional sites approximately 20% of the time, with the furthest location within an hour's drive; requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

• Maintain inventory using customer systems and ensure accuracy by scanning all chemical inventory in stockrooms and labs.
