We are now looking for a
General Manager, Wärtsilä Energy Marketing & Communications, Middle East and Asia
This opportunity is a 6-month fixed term assignment, and it’s location is Singapore.
Responsibilities
• In this role you will lead the Wärtsilä Energy’s Middle East and Asia (MEA) marketing and communications activities and act as leader for the area marketing & communications team.
• The team’s mission is to build awareness for Wärtsilä in MEA focus markets, organise communications to support active market development, increase preference of Wärtsilä’s solutions and services among target customers through locally relevant value propositions and effective use of marketing channels as well as generating leads. The team also supports MEA experts in building thought leadership.
• As team lead, you are responsible for defining the marketing & communications strategy for MEA, including objectives, target groups, key messages, marcom activities, timeline and forecast, covering the full scope of Wärtsilä Energy’s offering.
• You take the lead in defining the MEA marketing & communications plan on Area level and for each focus market. You ensure on-time and on-budget execution of that plan, applying an agile approach that takes into account changing conditions and business priorities.
• As line manager, you act as the MEA marketing & communications team’s first point of contact and coach, aiming at high performance and work wellbeing.
• You make sure the needed analytics and reporting are set up to enable tracking progress and results, aiming to optimise actions based on data and maximising the return on marketing investment. You ensure targets and metrics are aligned with the overall Wärtsilä Energy Marketing & Communications goals as well as the MEA Area business objectives and that each team member knows how they contribute to achieving these targets.
• You guide the team and contribute hands-on to the marketing & communications work, leveraging your areas of expertise, including:
- Creating high quality targeted content which clearly communicates the value Wärtsilä brings to the target group. Localising global materials to fit the focus markets' context.
- Planning and executing integrated marketing and communications campaigns leveraging tactics like digital marketing, media relations, events and conferences.
- Supporting MEA leaders and experts in becoming recognised thought leaders in their area of expertise.
- Communicating and sharing success stories and new developments, internally and externally.
• You are a team player who ensures alignment with the other Energy marketing & communications teams, sharing and adopting best practices and leveraging global materials, channels and campaigns for effectiveness.
• You actively contribute to joint cross-Energy marketing initiatives as part of the Energy Marketing & Communications Management Team.
• You work closely with MEA Growth & Development and Sales (New Build and Services) teams to get input on market situation, stakeholders to target, customer needs, competitive landscape and role of flexibility in focus countries and participate in developing market-specific value proposition and related messaging.
• You set up and foster a network of creative and communications agencies to support marketing & communications efforts in focus countries.
Requirements:
• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or other relevant field of study.
• 5+ years working experience in international B2B marketing and communications within the Energy sector, more specifically the engine power plant solutions and services industry.
• A successful track record of leading a marketing & communications team within a global corporation in the Energy sector.
• A proven understanding of the following energy sector topics:
• The energy transition and energy markets in Middle East and Asia.
• Designing and building flexible power systems to enable renewable energy ramp up.
• Engine power plant technology.
• An ability to quickly understand complex topics and create effective messaging for various external stakeholders and customers.
• A broad and proven marketing and communications skill set covering: external communications and media relations, creating thought leadership content, planning and executing multichannel marketing campaigns, digital marketing and social media, organizing events.
• A demonstrated ability for conceptual thinking.
• Strong planning, project management and prioritisation skills.
• Demonstrated skills of successfully leading cross-regional projects and campaigns.
• Experience in collaborating in a cross-cultural team in a matrix organisation.
• Skills in leveraging a partner network of creative and PR agencies, striving for high quality and effectiveness.
