• Performs duties as team leader and is responsible to the supervisor for assuring that the work of the team is carried out by performing a range of coordinating and supportive duties and abilities
• Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met

• Recommends changes to current policy and procedures to support the accurate and timely identification of fuel losses and inventory accountability for both wholesale and retail operations
• Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist the team/individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution
• Reviews data in Fuels Manager Defense which is DLA Energy Inventory system of record, Enterprise External Business Portal and Enterprise Business System to identify errors and ensures timely correction by the processing in Defense Fuel Support Points

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this General Engineer position, you will serve as a General Engineer supporting Region Ten with the analysis, review, and approval of projects related to Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs.

Typical assignments include:

• Supporting the Direct Technical Assistance (DTA) team with providing technical assistance to states, tribes, and local governments regarding the development of sub-applications for Building Resilient Infrastructure and
  Communities (BRIC) or Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) along with conducting feasibility and cost effectiveness using FEMA approved Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) software and methodologies.
• Reviewing other analysis for complete and appropriate documentation and standard adherence and effectiveness in substantially reducing the effects of future damages.
• Providing engineering or architecture research and advice in support of Mitigation programs.
• Participating in eligibility and completeness reviews, meetings & site visits with DTA communities, and performing project monitoring and closeout activities.
• Serving as a general engineer responsible for helping develop, review and provide comments on BRIC/FMA policies, procedures, best practices, recommendations, guidance on tactics and strategies to increase mitigation investment.

This announcement is for a position as a CORE (Cadre of On-Call Response/Recovery Employee). CORE employees are full-time employees hired to directly support the response and recovery efforts related to disasters. Employees are hired under the Robert T. Stafford Act and are excluded from the provisions of title 5, United States Code, governing jobs in the competitive service. They can be hired under a streamlined process instead of a competitive process. After three years of continuous service, Stafford Act employees may be granted competitive eligibility to apply for permanent full-time positions at FEMA.

This position will be hired into a temporary 4-year, excepted service appointment. Appointments may be renewed based on workload, funding, and supervisory approval.

• Performs Broad Range of Multidisciplinary Professional Engineering Work to Enable Technically Adequate Test. Applies expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to advance operational testing.

• Serves as a Senior Natural and Cultural Resources Programs and Policies Attorney for the USAF JAG Corps.
• Maintains Highest Level of subject matter expertise in Natural and Cultural Resources Law.
• Provides assistance to Air Force Civil Engineering Center, including the installations Directorate on matters involving Natural and Cultural Resources law as these affect Housing Privatization, Utilities Privatization, and Enhanced Use Lease projects.
• Provides assistance to Air Force and Department of Justice litigators on environmental, occupational safety and health, cultural and natural resources, and related real property matters in dispute in administrative, regulatory, or federal court proceedings.

1. Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering assessment work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to determine the business and technical needs of customers in the Mission Assurance, Anti-Terrorism and Integrated defense and Risk to Mission Arena.
