Its facilities include 3 theatres, 1 endoscopy theatre, 40 beds, a state-of-the-art imaging department, on-site pharmacy and cardiac diagnostic facility. They offer a variety of surgical services for both adult and paediatric patients including Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology and General Surgery. Working hours are 37.5 hours across 5 days, Monday – Friday with occasional on-call.

In this Senior Radiography role, you can expect to:

- With post registration experience in Mammography, you will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, cost effective imaging service to patients and consultant users.
- You will support the service with General Radiography, Theatre Imaging and CT (experience is not essential, full training will be provided), ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- You will be encouraged to enhance skills and knowledge by undertaking post-qualification support and training.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a wide range of acute and elective general surgical conditions and have a special interest in benign Upper GI.

Significant advanced benign Upper GI and biliary laparoscopic experience is essential. The successful candidate is expected to have significant emergency surgery experience including ‘hot gallbladders’.

It will be desirable if the successful candidate is a fully trained and JAG accredited endoscopist for upper GI endoscopy.

The successful candidate will work with ten other surgeons to provide an emergency service to a catchment area of approximately 450,000. They will contribute to the General Surgical on call rota 1:11 at Epsom and St Helier. Emergency appendectomies are performed on children aged 7 and above. We do not carry out any other emergency general surgical operations in the paediatric population. Elective paediatric surgery is managed by our local tertiary unit, St George’s Hospital.

The Trust has a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and the candidate should also be able to demonstrate previous commitment in this area. The successful candidate should have an interest in postgraduate education. There is ample opportunity to get involved in audit & clinical research. The Department operates activity cross-site therefore clinical/outpatient work is required on both sites.

MAJOR TASKS/JOB ACTIVITIES

• To empty litter and recycling bins.
• The cleaning of all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
• The cleaning of all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and the replenishment of washroom consumables.
• Emergency and re-active cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
• The care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out the above duties.
• Other tasks as may reasonably be required that relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where required.
• The post holder will be required to deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and to cooperate with performance measurement so that the overall agreed standards are met.

*Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of buildings that we service. As part of the duties of a Cleaning Operative and in this particular role, you will be required to be a key holder to fulfil these tasks. This typically would include operation of security alarm systems when opening a building, closing accessible windows and doors, switching off lights and ensuring that premises are left safe and secure when closing.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
