Financial Accountant

Inside IR35 - Hybrid (Occasional travel to site in Manchester)

We are currently looking for a Financial Accountant to join our prestigious clients finance team where you will help to drive continuous improvement in accounting across the business. You'll be looking after the business balance sheet and financial controls and be the main point of contact for accounting support in the financial control team.

As a financial accountant, you'll provide subject matter expertise on accounting standards and how to apply them across the business. You'll make sure everything is completed on time and in line with their accounting requirements, and work with colleagues to quickly resolve any queries in your area

What you'll do
* provide financial accounting support to the financial control team, acting as an expert for any queries in that area
* produce and review a variety of high-quality balance sheet control account reconciliations
* assist with the subsidiary statutory accounts
* co-ordinate tax pack submissions
* be responsible for the monthly submission of P&L and balance sheet for Group consolidation
* look after all fixed asset related queries
* support the preparation of the quarterly VAT returns
* work closely with internal colleagues across the business including Shared Services, as well as external auditors during group and statutory audits

This role would suit people who have

• an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc
• previous experience in financial control or a financial accounting environment
• experience of producing or auditing statutory accounts and VAT returns
• balance sheet control account reconciliation experience
• experience with cash flow reporting
• great collaboration and organisation skills with strong attention to detail
• You must have solid experience of double-entry book keeping.
• Very strong excel skills with the ability to handle large quantities of data
• The ability to present information in a clear simplified way to both finance and non-finance colleagues

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Serves as a Financial Analyst within Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)).
• Manages all aspects of acquisition, accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial management for OUSD(R&E)

About the role
This a great opportunity for a motivated and experienced Accountant to join our high performing team. The role is responsible for handling day to day operations of the Finance Dept , monthly closing and reporting and assisting the Finance Manager in financial planning , annual audit and tax submission.  Liaison between customers , vendors , auditors, tax agents, bankers and other team members is a key part of the role.

 In this position you will responsible for :

• Timely, accurate month-end closing and financial reporting to the Finance Manager

• Accounting processes and tasks

• Liaison with external parties like external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial agents, local tax and government authorities where required as well as internal teams

• Compliance with all finance filing requirements, tax filing requirement (GST/WHT/CIT/…), audits, procedures and forms both statutory and internal

• Assisting in new processes and system implementation when required.

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.

• Coordinating internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and timely provision of required financial information.

 About your Experience
You will have at least 5 year’s experience in a financial accounting role, with excellent communications skills and an ability to interact with all levels of management.

•       Degree in Accountancy/Finance or equivalent or degree in accountancy/professional qualification (or partially qualified accountant)

•       A broad range of accounting and commercial skills

•       Excellent analytical skills

•       Excel skills at Intermediate level.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities

· Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Capex, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition

· Lead and ensure accurate, timely month-end and year-end close processes, managing statutory reporting and working closely with external auditors and vendors

· Implement and maintain rigorous financial controls and processes to support scalability and compliance

What you will do:

Your new role
As Financial Controller you will have responsibility for overall management, direction and co-ordination of the plant finance function to optimise the accounting, forecasting and statutory reporting to acceptable quality, reporting to the CFO Europe. Your responsibilities will include:
Provide analytical, interpretive, investigative and advisory services on business and commercial impact, including supporting the Plant Manager as required.
Responsible for the integrity of the accounts and to ensure that the accounting function operates at all times in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and board policy.

Ensuring that the specific ledgers, records and books of accounts such as payroll records and proper expense distribution are maintained to satisfy company and governmental requirements

Liaison with Auditors to complete year-end statutory accounts in a timely fashion as required and ensure that no major write-ups are received.

Work with third party advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion and filing of tax returns

Establishing annual budgets, monthly accounts, and weekly forecasts, in line with business requirements.

Overseeing the payroll team in administering salary, wage and benefit programs, and in ensuring that the company PAYE returns are correct

Develop and maintain effective programs, so departmental KPI's and budgets are monitored and controlled.

Maintain adequate internal controls

Assisting in the preparation of and review of project requests for all capital expenditure.

Communicate, motivate and develop subordinates through regular performance reviews, including annual reviews, involvement in target setting and through routine exchanges.

Develop an understanding of product standard costs, working closely with the group costing team to ensure accuracy and understand the impact on the business.

Carry out/manage any other projects or tasks as requested by the CFO Europe or Plant Manager from time to time.

A qualified accountant with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proven analytical thinking, results orientation and problem-solving skills
Strong organisational skills in handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously with high attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts from corporate to manufacturing employees - both oral and written.
