About the Role

Coast and Country Cottages, part of the Sykes Cottages family, are recruiting our newest Maintenance Operative to manage and deliver the best quality and reliable upkeep of our managed services properties, resolving a diverse range of guest maintenance issues and repairs across our Salcombe properties.

• Paying a salary up to £26,000 per annum working / 37.5 hours / Monday to Saturday, 9am-5.30pm (with a day off in the week)

With a focus on customer and owner satisfaction, you will be ensuring timely response whilst resolving a range of Customer and Owner issues that may arise during a holiday in one of our properties.
As the prime contact for all matters hands on, you will work very closely with guests and Property Owners to swiftly resolve any issues which range from repairs to properties, ongoing maintenance and ad hoc emergencies.
Alongside your normal working hours, coverage of our emergency out-of-hours telephone will be available post successful-probation, with opportunity to earn £50.00 per day.
Your Responsibilities
A typical day will see you:
• Resolving and reacting to guest complaints and providing a satisfactory outcome to any maintenance situations which arise at properties
• Resolving the daily schedule of tasks that are given to you.
• Where repairs cannot be self-delivered, you will liaise with the responsible person to source appropriately experienced and qualified contractors.
• Recording information accurately and processing jobs completed via the companies KEA system
• Carry out regular, periodic checks of the properties, including Property Inspection and maintenance checks, record the findings using the online management system.
• Working closely with our owners and guests, either by telephone or face-to-face, on a daily basis to ensure they are receiving the support they need.
• Monitor and set the heating and hot water controls in line with seasonal changes.
• Compliance with all Health & Safety, company legislative policies applicable to the operating environment.
• Maintain the company vehicle to a high standard, making and recording regular checks and reporting any faults in a timely fashion.
• Ensuring your vehicle is adequately stocked and you have all the tools and equipment you require to complete the task in hand.
• Addressing any Winter property improvement projects – decorating and other maintenance required
• Supporting our QA’s from time-to-time by completing thorough property checks to keep our properties in tip top shape all year around
• Processing of any Business expenses, through the companies Concur system in a timely manner
• Sorting and arranging any refuse collections as required
Skills and Qualifications
A full, clean driving license is essential as part of this role, as well passionate maintenance skills people, team players and enthusiastic individuals with excellent work ethics.
Whilst experience in a similar role is advantageous, we will provide everything you need to succeed, training you up within our bustling team and supporting you every step of the way!
All we ask if you have the following:
• Knowledge of general maintenance and trade skills to a high standard
• Will have one or more of the following Trade skills: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrician, Gas Engineer, Plasterer or painter and decorator
• Ability to react quickly and effectively to emergency situations within remit
• Ability to problem solve
• Good communication skills to be able to liaise effectively with both owners and guests
• Full clean driving license
• Good IT skills
Although standouts will also have:
• Professional Trade qualifications
• Experience and an understanding of building systems e.g. boilers, security and fire alarms
• Good knowledge of the local area
• Holiday let/hospitality industry experience in a similar Role
• Knowledge of Health & Safety responsibilities for holiday letting
• Good customer service standards
