Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation.
As the Maintenance Operative your role is key in ensuring all requested repairs, be that reactive or proactive and pre-planned (via manager), are carried out to the required standard and within our SLA deadlines.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with previous maintenance experience within a field relating to joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating, etc. You will be a highly motivated individual who can manage your own workflow as well as working within a team when necessary.
As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself and that of all users of the property during, and after works have been undertaken and completed.
As part of your role, you will be required to purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers only. Vehicles provided by the company will be inspected regularly by employees and kept in a professional and clean condition.
Flexible Working pattern

Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet the operational needs of the business.
On–Call Requirements & Out-of-Hours Working

There will be a requirement to undertake out-of-hours on-call duties, working on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 emergency cover is provided as per our contractual responsibilities.
What you need to do the job
You will need a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK (a valid UK driver’s license is essential). All offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
You must have an excellent understanding of health and safety standards, as well as a good working knowledge of building construction and housing repairs and maintenance.
You will need to perform well under pressure and maintain a positive and flexible attitude towards work. Furthermore, you will be highly trustworthy and maintain discretion in all of your dealings. Finally, you will be a responsive problem solver, delivering effective solutions to any challenges that arise.
