We have a new opportunity for a Trainee Field Service Technician to join our Service and Heat Supply team, performing engineering work for the company, primarily to undertake remote support, service, maintenance and troubleshooting works for biomass heating systems located throughout Scotland.

The role will involve:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on biomass heating systems and associated equipment according to best practice, and in compliance with any statutory requirements and manufacturers’ instructions, including de-ashing, cleaning, full servicing, and system checks
- Assisting Service Engineers with servicing, troubleshooting works and repairs
- Assisting the Servicing and Heat Supply team with delivering a service to the satisfaction of customers and achieving internal targets and key performance indicators
- Demonstrating a high level of proactive rectification to minimise asset downtimes
- Attending sites across the country in line with planned schedules
- Undertaking all tasks according to health and safety requirements and wearing correct PPE
- Contributing to a high level of HSEQ performance on all sites, encouraging a strong HSEQ culture and adherence to HSEQ legislation and Group HSEQ policies
- Ensuring accurate and detailed report and record keeping – taking and logging photographs for reporting purposes, including before and after photos for planned services and photos for identifying any issues
- Attending Service and Heat Supply team meetings and site inspections/meetings when required
What we are looking for:
With practical hands-on experience of basic mechanical maintenance and a desire to learn new skills to improve and develop within the role our successful candidate will also demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- A mechanical / electrical / hydraulic background and basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems is desirable
- A full clean UK driving Licence is an essential requirement for this role
- Strong time management skills to effectively meet deadlines
- Ability to accurately complete required documentation i.e; service reports, H&S reports, timesheets
- Proactive and takes full responsibility for works completed
- Strong attention to detail to ensure job reports are accurately recorded
- Ability to go above and beyond to support customer and business needs, including being adaptive to change and supporting others where required
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised

Additional Information:
- Location: Fort William
- Competitive salary to be discussed at interview.
- Hours of work: 40 per week between 08:00 – 17:00, the nature of the role will result in overtime working and fulfilling a 24/7 and weekend on call role at certain times after training
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Following a successful 6 month probation period there will be a requirement to be enrolled onto an adult apprenticeship course with options electrical /mechanical/hydraulic
- This role may require nationwide travel with overnight stays where accommodation with meal allowance is provided
Please be aware that the as part of the requirements for this role there will be a significant amount of manual handling, physical activity and working in confined spaces. At times this role will also involve working within dusty and dirty environments.
