Role and Responsibilities

• Our technicians are responsible for the servicing, repair and diagnostics of all vehicles in the workshop, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standard first time.

BGS is looking to appoint an ICT Technician to join the ICT services team. This is a fixed term contract, running for 18 months.

The role involves providing initial triage and support for all ICT issues in the school, implementing fixes where possible, and escalation to senior colleagues where required. The role

• Working in the biomass plant
• Operating plant systems including, steam boilers, turbines, furnaces and conveyors
• Monitoring system performance in the control room
• Troubleshooting and fault-finding system issues such as pressure and water quality
• Sampling and testing moisture content
• Monitoring oxygen levels
• Operating SCADA controlled systems

Key skills and experience

• Experience with SCADA / PLC controlled systems
• Knowledge of steam boilers, gas turbines, furnaces and water treatment
• Experience in a Biomass environment or food manufacturing
• JCB license (desired)

- Rotational shifts, 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm

- £14.59 p/h

The Role

Working as the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be supervising maintenance employees and contractors onsite, to ensure all site operations are carried out safely and effectively in accordance with company policies, procedures, and HSE regulations.

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing support to the maintenance manager
• Frontline maintenance contractor safety management
• Risk assessments for maintenance jobs
• Ensuring safety and good housekeeping practices across the facilities
• Holding regular safety conversations and consultations with the teams
• Carrying out toolbox talks
• Adopting a zero harm workplace attitude and driving HSE improvements
• Supporting with weekly maintenance planning
• Carrying out maintenance works

What are we looking for?

• Strong organisational skills

• Experience in maintenance environments
• Experience managing small teams OR a desire to step into a leadership role

The role

As Maintenance Manager, you will lead the site's maintenance function to ensure that plant machinery and equipment is maintained and efficiency is maximised to achieve operational and production objectives.

• Full-Time, Permanent
• 40 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, rotating 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm shift pattern
• £40,000 - £50,000 DOE

Key accountabilities

• Develop and implement appropriate maintenance strategy, systems, techniques, and activities to ensure cost-effective maintenance
• Management of the maintenance team and contractors
• Overseeing all predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance activities
• Train, develop and supervise personnel
• Ensure maintenance and repair works are carried out according to business and industry standards
• Ensure breakdowns are managed effectively to minimise plant downtime
• Manage the procurement of spares and equipment to ensure continued operations
• Ensure compliance to HSE legislations
• Ensure wiring inspections and PAT testing is carried out as required

Skills & experience

We are seeking candidates with:

• Extensive experience of mechanical and electrical maintenance
• Experience of preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance techniques
• Strong IT literacy (particularly MS office)

Whilst not essential, relevant qualifications such as Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or higher, and NEBOSH certification or similar would be preferred.
