Position Description:
The Liquid Waste Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the liquid waste system. The operator will report to the Shift Supervisor.
The operator will also be responsible for the following items:
· Offloading Liquid waste tankers. Verifying and coordinator liquid waste deliveries.
· Following Covanta’s safety policies and procedures.
· Knowing and understanding the safety data sheets for all of the waste streams.
· Following operating procedures for the system.
· Keeping the entire liquid waste area clean and leak free.
· Identify and correct system flow problems.
· Communications with all shift personnel on the system status and operation.
· Maintaining the liquid waste system equipment including but not limited to:
· Cleaning strainers and baskets
· Replacing and repairing leaky fittings
· Changing out pumps
· Rebuilding pumps
· Cleaning lance nozzles
· Maintain and clean Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)
· Fabricate new lances
Other tasks will include:
· Cleaning off and maintaining the sifting ash drag level and ground floor DBA.
· Keeping the liquid waste off loading and pump area dikes dry and clean.
· Taking proper system logs
· Managing low quality sump water balance.
· Cleaning out the storage tanks.
· Any other task deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor or Chief Engineer.
Position Requirements:
To be considered for this position, the individual must have a HS Diploma (or GED) and one year of industrial experience. Internal candidate wishing consideration must have completed LDI Job Training Instruction (JTI) and all requirements for the Material Handler Full Qualification of the OQS.
The expected hourly pay rate for this position is $26.85.
This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
A minimum of 1 year experience operating industrial equipment
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
