1. To manage and motivate a Planning Enforcement team created in association with a specific area or site specific projects or programmes and ensure compliance with performance targets

2. Taking decisions for the Client under the Assistant Director’s delegated powers in respect of determining planning enforcement matters for residential and commercial development, conservation areas, listed buildings, green belt land, shop fronts, advertisements, works to trees, untidy land or such other matters as may be required by the Assistant Director.

3. Manage a team to meet the objectives of the Planning Enforcement Team in maintaining, regenerating and improving the environment of the Borough by the implementation of the Unitary Development Plan, the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework, the Mayor’s London Plan and other, planning policies.

4. Direct a team of planning enforcement officers in meeting the objectives of the Pollution Control, Planning Enforcement Team in providing an efficient, effective and good value service, while helping to deliver the aims and objectives of the Pollution Control, Planning Enforcement Action Plan through flexible and effective enforcement, tactics and operations.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking a Business Support Officer who demonstrates sound HR and Finance knowledge, whilst at the same time being proactive, pragmatic, proficient and enthusiastic. They must be person and pupil centred, self-motivated individual, equipped with knowledge and understanding of HR and Finance processing or responsibility in a similar background. Phoenix is a well-established Outstanding (Ofsted Nov 2024) special school for students with severe language and communication difficulties including autism. The School offers a unique service to the children of Tower Hamlets. The school has a multi-ethnic population, which reflects the diversity of the borough. Phoenix has two sites, Phoenix School and Phoenix Upper School. The two sites cover the age range 3-12 and 12-19 respectively.
