• Provides technical support and assistance for physical facility and equipment management.

This position is located in an operating office (Office) within a bureau or bureau equivalent office (Bureau) within the Department of the Interior (Department). This position serves as an engineer providing civil engineering expertise for a variety of projects and activities throughout the Office which typically include combinations of complex features. Work can include design. studies. analyses. construction administration, documentation, inspections, assessments, investigations, reviews, cost estimating. specifications writing, compliance evaluations, and evaluating facility capacities and operations. The purpose of this position is to perform work in one or more specialties of hydraulic, hydrologic. geotechnical, structural, highway, and construction management. Complex features include bridges. oil and gas producing facilities. concrete and embankment dams, roads, levees, canals. pipelines, tunnels. pumping plants, power plants, waterways, reservoirs, water and wastewater systems, buildings. irrigation systems. recreation sites, and related appurtenant systems.

• Plan/design/maintain road structures or transportation facilities by considering factors such as economics, route location, traffic behavior, and/or vehicle characteristics.
• Work with Contracting Officers to implement/administer construction or service contracts.
• Plan and/or coordinate civil engineering facility inspections to identify deficiencies and/or policy compliance.
• Ensure contractors' pricing is fair and reasonable by reviewing proposals for compliance with federal laws and regulations.
• Ensure technical designs, construction plans, or correspondences are written in accordance with federal and regulatory policies.

This position may be filled at either GG-07 or GG-09 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered. Incumbent may be advanced non-competitively to the established target grade upon meeting developmental benchmarks, performance requirements, and other requirements, as applicable established for the career program or specifically for the incumbent.

As a INVESTIGATOR (SPECIAL AGENT) you will be responsible for the following duties:
-Assist with conducting Federal Personnel Background Investigations, many of which are sensitive or controversial, where allegations, hearsay information, or other vague or intangible information of an adverse nature exist.
-Evaluate individual's trustworthiness for access to classified information, placement in a sensitive position, retention in the military services, or placement in Federal employment.
-Assist with collecting and developing information from a variety of sources.
-Prepare reports of investigation in accordance with DOD guidelines and instructions.

Major duties for the Lead Police Officer include, but are not limited to:

• Writes uniform offense reports covering incidents that contain pertinent information, which is factual, classified properly, and submits reports timely;
• Questions victims and witnesses at the scene of an incident;
• Issues citations for personally observed violations of the law, rules, or regulations;
• Assists victims of accidents or assaults by providing first aid, etc.;
• Obtains statements from persons involved in or who has witnessed an accident;
• Pursues and apprehends person fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest while on VA property;
• Identifies and reacts to overcome life threatening situations such as natural or manmade disasters, hostage, barrier, terrorist attack, kidnap, or felony assault;
• Conducts long and short-term investigations;
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
