Reporting to the Executive (Legal and Compliance) this role is suited to senior lawyer looking to expand their career with aspirations to grow into a more senior internal role. The purpose of this new position is work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure achieves strong commercial outcomes and meets it’s legal and compliance requirements. The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely alongside COO, Risk, HR and CoSec functions and advise across all areas of the business to ensure it is proactively managing our legal risks and compliances effectively and manage any legal matters. 

Key aspects of the role include: 

• Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing commercial documents and contracts, or, where appropriate, arranging for external legal advice or review (including agreements with customers for sale of products and services, agency and broker agreements, leases, supplier and service provider agreements etc). 

Providing legal support and advice: 

• for establishment of new entities, alliances and joint ventures as required in Australia and internationally. 

• for obtaining relevant licences, permits and authorisations in Australia and internationally. 

• generally, across commercial matters, regulatory matters, internal policies and procedures. 

Assisting business (including sales and marketing, HR, operations and customer service, technology, finance and other business teams) with:

The Role:

We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Security Architect to join our high performing cyber security practice. • 5+ years' experience as a Security Architect with expert knowledge in the areas of security architecture & security infrastructure
• Ability to review new and existing Information Technology projects for information security compliance by developing, documenting, and communicating adherence to architecture, blueprints, components, standards, and strategies
• Consult across a wide variety of information security disciplines including infrastructure security, security solution design, risk management, web, and application security
• Strong technical writing and risk assessment experience
• Problem-solving, critical thinking and time management abilities
• Working knowledge of international security and risk-related standards or frameworks such as SABSA, CISSP, ASD8, NIST, ISO-27000 series, PCI and GDPR
• A certified IRAP Assessor or pursuing the IRAP Assessor certification
• Design experience for SWG, CASB, PAM, VM and other security controls is highly desired
• Outstanding written and communication skills including experience with an executive audience

The Purpose:

As the Senior Legal Counsel this role will see you working in a collaborative environment as a Lead Business Partner to meet the legal, regulatory, risk and compliance needs of AP+ with a strong focus on supporting the business through existing and emerging payments regulation. The role is a 12-month contract position to fill a parental leave cover within the Legal Team.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Advising the business on key legal, regulatory, compliance and risk matters.
• Working closely with key internal stakeholders to support company-wide risk transformation initiatives.
• Liaising with regulators and managing regulatory requests.

In order for you to be successful in the role, you’ll have:

• 8 years + post admission experience in payments/banking regulation or financial services regulation and data privacy laws.
• Proven experience working with regulators e.g., RBA, ASIC. ACCC and/or APRA.
• Strong knowledge of AFSL, APRA Standards, AML/CTL.
• Excellent legal analytical skills with attention to detail.
• The ability to explain legal concepts in simple terms.
• Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
• Strong technical skills to provide commercial and pragmatic advice.
