Job OverviewAs the Head of Security - Healthcare, you will be a key leader within our Subject Matter Expertise team, providing strategic oversight and expert guidance on security compliance matters across our healthcare portfolio. Your role is not just about leadership, but also about being an integral part of a team. Working in close collaboration with account directors, managers, supply chain partners, and external stakeholders, you will support the Director of Technical Operations - HC, in fostering a culture of compliance and consistency, knowledge sharing, innovation, and best practices that enhance our security capabilities.
Your role will be instrumental in driving compliance and consistency within our healthcare services, ensuring that we meet the highest standards of safety and security for all staff, patients, and visitors. Main Duties
Reporting directly to the Director of Technical Operations - Healthcare and will be responsible for preparing and presenting regular reports to senior management, highlighting security performance metrics, incident trends, and recommendations for improvements.•Oversee all security operations within healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities, ensuring the safety of the premises, staff, patients, and visitors. Develop and implement security protocols tailored to the unique needs of each healthcare setting.•Regularly review and update security policies to align with best practices, legislative changes, and the evolving healthcare security landscape.•Serve as the senior escalation point for security-related incidents and emergencies, proactively managing situations with immediate and effective resolution strategies that prioritise the safety of all individuals on the premises.•Coordinate with police and emergency services when necessary, ensuring timely communication and collaboration during critical incidents.•Conduct comprehensive security audits and assessments to evaluate existing security measures, analysing data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.•Monitor the security team's performance, providing ongoing training and development to maintain high service delivery standards and compliance with established protocols.•Control access to necessary training programs for security personnel, ensuring adherence to Mitie's Safe System of Work (SSoW) and industry-specific security protocols.•Develop tailored training programs that address specific security challenges within the hospital environment, enhancing the skills and preparedness of the security team.•Foster collaboration with local account teams, departmental security personnel, and external security service providers to enhance overall security capabilities.•Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by sharing best practices and exploring new technologies to augment hospital security measures.•Provide expert guidance and training to all hospital staff on security compliance matters, emphasising vigilance and proactive practices.•Create and implement awareness campaigns that educate staff and customers about security protocols, emergency procedures, and reporting mechanisms for suspicious activities.•Lead the security team, focusing on governance and accountability, ensuring alignment with Mitie's mission and values.•Proven experience in a security leadership role, preferably within a healthcare environment, with a strong understanding of security management principles, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance standards.•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and motivate a team while fostering a culture of excellence
