Due to a retirement, Amerisure is recruiting for a Coverage and Litigation Manager to join our team. This role can be remote from most locations in the U.S.; however, preferred locations are near our following offices: Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, Farmington Hills MI, or Tampa FL.
Position Summary:
Collaborates with and provides legal advice, coverage analysis, and training to claims staff. Prepares coverage opinions and coordinates with senior internal and external legal counsel on complex insurance coverage matters. In partnership with claims, manages coverage and extra-contractual litigation. Responsible for handling Amerisure’s subpoena responses.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with and advise claims department regarding coverage issues including providing formal and informal coverage opinions.
Coordinate with senior internal counsel and external counsel on complex matters as necessary.
Provide legal advice regarding insurance policy interpretation based on applicable case law.
Provide counsel regarding strategy and recommended course of action to resolve coverage issues.
Manage coverage and extra-contractual litigation against the company.
Manage Amerisure’s subpoena response process.
Collaborate and provide legal advice to claims and underwriting departments regarding development and revisions to coverage forms.
Create and conduct training for claims and underwriting staff regarding insurance coverage law and emerging trends.
Evaluate risk transfer provisions in contracts in support of field underwriting and risk management.
Requirements:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in the state of primary location.
Licensed to practice law in other operating locations preferred.
5 years commercial insurance coverage/commercial general liability experience.
5 years civil litigation or claims litigation experience preferred.
Proficient in on-line legal research through Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar service.
Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
Ability to lead discussions, make presentations and deliver technical subject matter to a non-technical audience.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
