The Integrated Community Network Teams work to develop seamless pathways

of care and support. This role will be key in being responsive to people’s needs. The role will be key in bringing in a multi-disciplinary approach to provide and implement timely professional support for people’s needs. This ensures choice and control for individuals and places the person at the centre of their care. It provides a clear expectation that the person’s voice and choice will be heard. The role with concentrate on maximising the independence of adults and enabling them to live their lives as they wish. The Teams are ambitious in looking to develop innovative and creative ways to support the individual and those important to them. It works to recognise the changing needs within communities and works collaboratively to meet them.

The Team consists of staff from District Nursing; Social Work; Occupational Therapy; Physiotherapy; Community Psychiatric Nursing; Speech and Language Therapy; Dietetic and Pharmacy and links closely with the Third Sector. This holistic approach provides a full offer of support for adults with changing needs in their localities as well as meeting complexity of needs. Acting within their professional boundaries, the post holder will provide support to the person they are working with and those important to them through holistic person-centred practice. They will be a key member in providing an effective team around the person.

The role involves working in partnership with the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will support with adults who have complex, physical or mental health difficulties and will strive to support them to remain independent in their community. You will also work closely at those who provide them with care support. The role will involve completing assessments and reviews to establish outcomes with individual, and their careers, this may be in the individuals’ home or within a community setting. Your role may include negotiating resources to meeting identified needs. This will include working to a strength-based model.

The Role 

Applications are invited for an Assistant Software Engineer in real-time control for Adaptive Optics (AO) systems for the ELT and other instrument projects.

Aspects of the development of the real-time control system will include: 

• Working on low latency 'hard' real time control system for both HARMONI and MOSAIC, implementing and optimising the various adaptive optics control schemes required by the instruments on the selected hardware architecture. 
• Development of the data, telemetry, command, and control interfaces to match standards required by the observatory.
• Working with a wide variety of hardware devices including high-speed cameras and deformable mirrors, and the candidate will be expected to develop and test software interfaces to these hardware devices.
• Optionally, contributing to the implementation of high-performance numerical algorithms in C/C++ and / or Python to process and update parameters for the low latency system.
• The applicant will also be expected to contribute to CfAI's ongoing research program developing new software for techniques and technologies that will enable the next generation of adaptive optics real-time control systems. These will be for use not only within astronomy but also other fields such as laser communications or microscopy where adaptive optics can be used.
• The applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to high quality publications in refereed journals as a result of participating new research areas within the field of real-time AO control.
• When working on large instrumentation projects such as HARMONI and MOSAIC the applicant will be expected to contribute to any project deliverables (such as preparing design documentation or user manuals) and adhere to project software development standards.

This role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of SICE's proprietary software for the assigned project by:

• Writing and reviewing software engineering documentation (specifications, design, test plans, manuals…). 
• Administrating and maintaining the test environments for the SCADA. 
• SCADA Software deployments and database distribution in all test environments and integration with various systems, including PMCS (Plant Monitoring and Control System), and TMCS (Traffic Management and Control System). 
• Testing, diagnosing and fixing errors and faults in the software within established testing protocols, guidelines, and quality standards to ensure the system performs according to the specifications. 
• Identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures, and methods. 
• Liaising with the team in Spain on resolving issues related to the SCADA. 
• Participating in the testing and commissioning activities of the system before going into operation. 
• Configuration of the SCADA as part of the software implementation process of the project 
• Liaising with suppliers and identifying firmware issues that can affect hardware integration with the SCADA. 
• Liaising with the client for resolving queries, providing assistance and requesting information needed for the SCADA. 

The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field 
• At least 1 year of experience in software engineering or similar roles 
• Knowledge of relational databases (SQL)
• PLC/SCADA architecture knowledge
• MS Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.) 
• High attention to detail 
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Job snapshot:

As Junior Technical Support Advisor you will work closely with our app partners during their development phase with our API, guiding them through the most effective and efficient method based upon their individual product needs. In addition, you will be assisting our schools with any technical support challenges that arise in relation to the various apps that integrate via our platform as well as helping connect their integrations.

You will be working with a growing team of technical support and integrations specialists across a number of projects from individual schools through to state-wide education department rollouts.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work with our Sale and Account Management Team as a key point of technical contact for onboarding new and assisting existing app partners 
• Proactively and reactively engaging with schools to assist with and troubleshoot any issues with their integration or application connections, be that data, system or API related
• Work with our internal development teams to ensure the scoping and prioritisation of tickets meets customer expectations
• Decrease incoming volume by striving toward first contact resolution and proactively onboarding and advising schools and apps on best practice
• Be on the front foot with communication, to ensure all stakeholders are always kept up to date in line with our SLA’s
• Maintain high levels of professionalism, customer service, performance and attitude
• Maintain security and procedures set out by the company
• Engaging with the overall communications team to provide support and assist with advanced technical support issues
• Liaise with various team members to help coordinate the rollout of new school applications

What we’re hoping you’ll bring: 

• Experience in a technical support focused role via phone and email is a must
• Knowledge of Databases and SQL (desirable but not required)
• Familiarity with Zendesk/ticketing systems and Jira (desirable but not required)
