The Sr. Human Resource Manager is a strategic business partner assigned to support the Peripheral Intervention US Sales organization. The selected individual will be able to build internal business partnerships and drive projects that support the organizations strategic objectives. This position requires that the individual be able to build and maintain relationships with senior level executives as well as employees at all levels. This individual will report to the Director, HR and is critical in helping to implement and drive specific HR initiatives across the organization.  Key success factors are the ability to drive change, solve problems, offer creative solutions and promptly address all business needs. 

This role provides flexibility to work 3 days on site in Tempe, AZ and 2 days remotely on a weekly basis.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Contribute to the business strategy by helping identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes

• Provide assistance in forecasting and planning the talent pipeline requirements in line with budgetary confines and the function/business strategy

• Drive HR culture, training and initiatives

• Develop and deliver HR related training

• Ensure leadership and coaching culture is cascaded through the organization

• Provide clear leadership by demonstrating understanding of business trends and needs

• Drive the people processes (performance, development, and career) to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards

• Effectively manage and resolve employee relation issues in an objective and timely manner

• Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR calendar as well as participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives

• Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve the HR policies and initiatives to enhance overall business performance and stay informed on relevant HR business practices and in compliance with employment laws

• Identify and interpret HR metrics and trends, offering solutions to the business when appropriate

• Build and support a culture of inclusion and diversity

• Provide expert advice and coaching to employees where appropriate

• Provide feedback as necessary regarding employee and management performance

• Maintain close contact with HR personnel and encourage cooperation and close partnerships across business units

• Identify and drive the communication and sharing of learning across functions to facilitate continuous organizational improvement

• Manage recruiting and retention strategies with business partners

• Performs other duties as assigned by manager

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• SPHR or PHR certification preferred.

Experience Required:

• Demonstrated budget management and written and oral communication skills.

• 5-10 years’ experience as a successful HR business partner

This position will support the Human Physiology, Performance, Protection, and Operations (H-3PO) Laboratory, which conducts research and provides operational expertise in several technical disciplines to address health and performance risks for astronauts.

Disciplines include Extravehicular Activity (EVA) physiology, exercise physiology and countermeasures, and applied injury biomechanics. This position will work closely with the management team and project technical leads to launch and improve products that further NASA’s human spaceflight efforts.
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for driving product vision, strategies, and roadmaps within broader context of organizational needs
• Work closely with stakeholders and customers to identify product opportunities and customer pain points
• Partner with project technical leads to ensure that technical schedule is supportive of product roadmap
• Present work to stakeholders and perform product outreach duties, such as the launch of new product features
• Engage customers in product testing, including A/B testing and solicitation of customer feedback
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive product vision, define product requirements, coordinate resources, and guide team through milestones
• Define and track product performance metrics
• Demonstrate a positive problem-solving attitude with an enthusiasm for working as part of an exceptional team
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to the customer and team
• Serve as a test subject for protocol and hardware evaluations on a volunteer basis
• Responsible for completing all assigned training
• Perform other duties as assigned   

Education/Experience
REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field and approximately 5 years of experience or combination of graduate-level education and experience is required
• At least 2 years' experience in product management/support roles
• Demonstrated experience building and shipping products that interface with human customers
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in a fast-paced professional environment, supporting multiple projects
• Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident
 

DESIRED:
• Experience supporting NASA or other government contracts
• Experience conducting human health and performance research
• Product A/B testing experience, defining KPIs, statistical analysis of data

Skills/Training
REQUIRED:
• Demonstrated project coordination experience and skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; employee will be required to work and communicate with human test subjects, astronauts, personnel across multiple JSC directorates and external collaborators
• Highly motivated with developed organizational skills; must be able to work independently with minimal oversight and support multiple projects
• Demonstrated real-time problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, both formal and informal, including oral presentations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software at intermediate to advanced working level

Job Description

Position Overview:

Functions as an HR business partner to VP, Operations – Specialty Containers across approximately 7 sites across the U.S and Canada.  Develops, plans, organizes and directs the administration of all Amcor Rigid Packaging human resources policies, procedures and programs regarding recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and development, EEO and AAP, health and safety, labor relations, employee relations, engagement and retention necessary to carry out company and plant objectives.  Provides guidance to Plant Director/Manager, functional managers and supervisors in the interpretation and application of established human resources policies to create a climate of trust and open communication.  Manages legal compliance and risk mitigation in collaboration with plant and corporate management.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Manages team of dotted line reports and is responsible for supporting employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management.  Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement; cultivates an environment of safety, high performance, and ethical and legal compliance; addresses employee relations issues
• Works collaboratively to identify and implement the best strategies and processes in the following key areas:  talent acquisition and management, leadership development, succession planning, employee relations, rewards and recognition, change management, safety/workers compensation, and operational excellence
• Meets frequently with HR Managers within the region to ensure that issues are addressed, consistency is achieved, and information is shared. Visits each site within the region at least every six months
• Works closely with peers to ensure strategies and policies are aligned and consistently applied
• Manages talent management, talent assessment, career development and succession planning processes throughout the region
• Works collaboratively with business group leaders to direct comprehensive training and development, including a range of initiatives such as leadership development, 360-degree assessments, career development plans, leadership training, technical skill development, etc. 
• Actively coaches managers leaders within the region with regard to management and leadership style
• Promotes positive work environment through compliance with Amcor standards and policies, ensuring fair and consistent administration of policies and practices
• Ensures compliance with federal and state legislation
• Leads and executes strategies to assess employee engagement survey results and improvement actions
• Investigates Whistleblower and Employee Hotline calls; ensures quality, timely, and appropriate response and corrective action
• Contributes to organizational change management initiatives through planning and execution
• Assists in the continued profitable growth of ARPNA by participating in the planning and policy making of the organization
• Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the region/company financial position, mid/long range plans, culture awareness and competition
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Human Resources function through both leading and participating in various key projects and initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, business or related field; Master’s degree preferred

• Professional certification in HR preferred

• 8-10 years in the Human Resources field in a generalist role

• Leadership experience in a multi-location manufacturing organization is preferred

• Proficiency in HRIS/payroll systems, advanced MicroSoft computer applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)

• 50% Travel
